Been down to see our eldest offspring in London. A weekly photo theme elsewhere is "The Colour Red" and it was impossible to resist this iconic London shot yesterday.

I'm more impressed with Oy's camera's resolution than the buses, but buses are still impressive on their own. I'd be sitting on the top layer at the front window like that tourist couple in the photo. I'm sure they are tourists because... well, I'm just sure.

Edit: The bus is a City Tour bus. So there!

LOL.... your sure it's tourists...? how could you tell?... it woudn't be because they're on a Tour bus would it?...lol

Iconic Pinky, these former buses, back in the day when buses had a conductor who collected your fare, these were the buses that I went to school on. In the foreground is the RT or Regent Type, superceded by the one in the background known as The Routemaster.

Buses weren't the only iconic red landmark in London. Back in the day when the landline ruled, the pay phone booths were always red.

I know, I asked you about that before, and I looked it up. Price is usually an indicator of quality, so that probably explains the resolution. I have a little Cannon 5 mega pixel elph that is 20 years old now. It's smaller than a pack of cigarettes. I have made several poster sized canvas prints from it that are acceptable, but I wanted to fill a large space on the wall with something 40 X 50 inches, and the low resolution made it impossible.

So I went and bought a Cannon Rebel and that does an adequate job, although nothing like your Nikon. And with a 6 power telephoto and this and that, it fills a small back pack. But when I'm hiking, I've already got a pack on my back, so I end up not taking it with me. Back in the film era of photography, I was happy to carry that gear up into the mountains for a whole weekend. I still have a huge camera bag filled with camera equipment that is basically worthless at this point. I think there are 4 different cameras in that "junk" bag along with accessories.

Just a week ago, I bought another elph, this time 20 mega pixels. I carry it in my pocket. It's decent, but still too early to know how much it can do. I don't shoot as much as I used to.
