Reflections of My Life

Made a keto chicken soup for supper. Instead of noodles I cut strips of an egg white wrap and put them in the hot soup. They have a spongy feel to them but they were okay. Not exactly like a noodle but I do what I have to do.
I know! Not as good, but good, right, Kat?
Many foods, when homemade, can be tweaked to be healthier for us. Just being homemade is a good start.

A couple of nights ago Sonny adopted another dog. A male dachshund. He is about 7 years old or so. The reason he got him is a friend of his had taken him because the owner didn't want him anymore (can you believe that? after 7 years????). He is not neutered and Sonny's friend said he was not housebroken. So his friend and his wife both work and were gone all day and the house was a mess when they would get home. They wanted him but could not deal with that. He was fine if they were home.

So he asked Sonny about taking him and of course, Sonny immediately said yes. So he wasn't sure how Cinnamon, his dog would react to another dog. Well, she is fine with him. And the dog? Has not gone to the bathroom in the house since he got there. He goes out with Cinnamon but Sonny is putting a leash on him and going out with them for now. Just till he is sure he won't wander off. His name is Rusty and I think he likes his new home. Sitting on Sonny's lap next to Cinnamon.............well, that is what Sonny likes....a lap dog! Sleeping in his bed alongside Cinnamon and Sonny.

Makes a difference that Sonny is home all the time. He will take the dogs with him in the car. But probably when they are left home Rusty will be fine because he won't be alone. Cinnamon will be there too.

It’s probably a good thing that Cinnamon is there to show Rusty the ropes. 😉🤭😂

That's a beautiful story!!!!!!!!!!!

Katlupe - how many animals may a tenant have in the building?
Two, I think. One can be a companion pet which is what Rabbit is. My doctor had to fill out a paper saying that. He asked me what to write so I told him. I miss that doctor.

If it is a dog there is a limit on how big they are. Though it can overlooked. My previous neighbor had a larger size dog and a small one. There are many cats in the building. Another previous neighbor had five birds. One was a large parrot who was quite vocal but I did not mind. I kinda liked it. The companion pet does not have to have a deposit.

That broken water main was fixed pretty fast last night. So before I went to bed I was able to wash my dishes.

Yesterday my manager knocked on my door and asked to come in. Which she never does! Then she told me my neighbor across the hall has a woman staying in his apartment. She is not his girlfriend. He is just very kindhearted and I am guessing she is homeless and he let her stay due to the cold weather. It is very cold to be sleeping in the park. But.........it also makes our building unsafe and not secure. The thing about letting a homeless person into our building is they bring things in here since they are not very sanitary. And they bring other people with them too.

I talked to another neighbor and he told me not only is that woman staying here but another man is too. The first neighbor lets them in and when comes home he takes them down to the community room and they have been sleeping on the couches down on the lower level. My manager said that DSS called her to ask about the woman and it turns out that she gave this as her address. I am afraid of my neighbor might be evicted due to this.

The toilet riser I bought came yesterday. Fit perfect! This one seems to be better than the other one I had.

Kat, much as that neighbour may have a kind heart, he's putting everyone in the building at risk....so those people have to go...unfortunately...

If this is the first time he's done this then it would be harsh to evict him.... IMO..

I would be a bit concerned that these people might be taking advantage of your neighbor, a form of elder abuse.

It seems like the manager could have the police escort them out if they are sleeping in the common areas.

It could get trickier if they are guests staying in his apartment, depending on how the lease is worded.

I hope that this doesn’t result in his eviction but a stern first strike warning seems to be in order.

She did not know about it till yesterday. Though I think some of the tenants did. I didn't know and he lives right across the hall from me. The police have not always been helpful dealing with the homeless people here. What I see happens is they will latch onto someone who is vulnerable. Then take advantage of them. I don't talk to any of them.

Hello, bedbugs.

Yes, I agree. I do not want any of them in here. Even visiting someone. We had one guy a year ago that had two people staying with him. So the police were always coming here to search his apartment and storage locker. These type of tenants are mostly the younger, disabled ones. Not usually the seniors. But the guy across the hall is 86 and he is out every day on his electric bike and hangs out at a gas station/convenient type of store with a lot of these people. So they are his friends. I will see what happens Monday when our manager is here.

Lots of snow here during the night! I awoke to the sound of snow removal. I have to say our city gets the plowing done early before most people are out of bed. Glad I made that walk out to the dumpster yesterday. It was cold but I didn't have to walk on snow to get to it. Thankful too, that I ordered Jeff's groceries yesterday and he has food. So nothing I need to get from anywhere or anyone.

Today I am going to use my vibration plate for officially the first time. I used it twice before but that was just to turn it on and see if it was loud. It is not. I have it set up in the bedroom area of my apartment. I will sit on the chair there to use it. I have to admit I was afraid it would make my knees worse but what I am seeing online it does the opposite. I follow a channel called "Sturdy Woman" and she uses one for her Lymphedema and weight loss and says it works. So I shall see.

Yes! We can also drape ourselves over the washing machine when it's in the spin cycle, that's what I do.
But you have reminded me of something important. I once asked for a vibrator in a store and was practically told to leave. I should have said 'a massager', I guess. Careful what we say, we can get rocks thrown at us! Remember, in the shape we're in, we can't outrun anybody, right?

I have watched some of her videos also, while browsing through the different information about vibration plates. If you have Kindle Unlimited, there are some good books about the benefits and how a senior should use the WBV plate. I am reading Whole Body Vibration For Seniors, second edition, by Becky Chambers .
She explains that WBV has mostly been used by athletes, so they use stronger vibrations and more exercise on the plate than is good for an older person, especially one with health issues. She said to start out with slower vibrations, and just sitting on the chair first, like you and I are both doing.

I now am doing a combination of both, and not over 5 minutes at any one time. During the day, I do some sessions of standing WBV, and at night I sit in the chair, and then also add the little foot vibration knobs. I am doing this for 5-10 minutes before I go to bed, and it really helps my legs for sleeping, and I can feel more circulation.
During the day, I have the leg and foot swelling from the edema, and the vibration at night seems to help with that a lot.

I like this video which is put out by my brand, Lifepro. I like how she explains things. I am doing it seated only right now. I used it for 5 minutes today. Before I used it, I could barely walk due to my knee and I had just cleaned Rabbit's cage. After I did that one time for 5 minutes...........I got up from the chair and walked with no pain. So I will increase it little by little. But for now 5 minutes seated.
