Lots of snow here during the night! I awoke to the sound of snow removal. I have to say our city gets the plowing done early before most people are out of bed. Glad I made that walk out to the dumpster yesterday. It was cold but I didn't have to walk on snow to get to it. Thankful too, that I ordered Jeff's groceries yesterday and he has food. So nothing I need to get from anywhere or anyone.
Today I am going to use my vibration plate for officially the first time. I used it twice before but that was just to turn it on and see if it was loud. It is not. I have it set up in the bedroom area of my apartment. I will sit on the chair there to use it. I have to admit I was afraid it would make my knees worse but what I am seeing online it does the opposite. I follow a channel called "Sturdy Woman" and she uses one for her Lymphedema and weight loss and says it works. So I shall see.
I have watched some of her videos also, while browsing through the different information about vibration plates. If you have Kindle Unlimited, there are some good books about the benefits and how a senior should use the WBV plate. I am reading Whole Body Vibration For Seniors, second edition, by Becky Chambers .
She explains that WBV has mostly been used by athletes, so they use stronger vibrations and more exercise on the plate than is good for an older person, especially one with health issues. She said to start out with slower vibrations, and just sitting on the chair first, like you and I are both doing.
I now am doing a combination of both, and not over 5 minutes at any one time. During the day, I do some sessions of standing WBV, and at night I sit in the chair, and then also add the little foot vibration knobs. I am doing this for 5-10 minutes before I go to bed, and it really helps my legs for sleeping, and I can feel more circulation.
During the day, I have the leg and foot swelling from the edema, and the vibration at night seems to help with that a lot.
