I think I would call the police and tell them everything about this "almost fire", because they might call authorities and have this person evaluated for psychological issues. Perhaps 3 days on a mental health unit would impact the landlords decision? Just a thought....

The manager said there was not enough evidence to do anything.
 
I got some happy news yesterday. We are going to have a wedding in our community room! No date set yet, but I imagine it will be soon. More good news is that my friend's daughter will be coming for a visit and to stay about two weeks. She hasn't seen her in at least five years that I know of. So I think we will plan something in the community room for her too.

Not so good news is that one of the guys has been arrested but just gets an appearance ticket. The police came last week and searched his apartment and storage locker. So who knows what that is about? Not me. I just listen to what people tell me. Then wait to see what actually happens.

Goodness, I hope they never want to search my storage locker! I am still working down there trying to clean out. I never get past the front containers. I picture in my mind how I want it to look but that never seems to happen. I am making a plan to really get it cleaned out one container or item at a time.
 

I have been working on trying to get my printer hooked back up to my computer. For some reason it does this from time to time. I think it may be when ubuntu does an update. Not sure. Since getting it back is not something I do every day, I have to try to remember how to do it whenever I need to do it. I write down all the steps I take but then trying to follow them is not always easy either. This is the one time I really miss my husband. He is a computer geek and took care of all this stuff for me.

I had ordered the ink for the printer back in August so the return window is closed. It never worked from day one and I should have sent it back. I kept thinking I would get the printer working and could test the new ink. Nope. Printer would not hook up. When I put the new ink in it was no good. Two of them were dried out or empty. I hate printers!

So I am trying to get the scanner to work. Just scan to my computer which is what I have always done. I will see how I do.
 
I remember when I was growing up my family did not eat in restaurants unless we were traveling. My mother worked but still made our supper every night at home. In our cupboard we might have a bag of potato chips (always Wise brand) and have a handful of chips on a plate with a sandwich if that was what we were having. We never just snacked on the whole bag like everyone does now. Watching television in the evening we might have a dish of ice cream or an ice cream soda..........usually either Friday or Saturday night as special treat.

If my brother or I had a party for our friends, my mother always made a large "hot pie" (pizza) which was cookie sheet size. They were the best! She would ask me what kind of cake did I want for my birthday and I always told her to skip the cake and make the hot pie. Another food we served at the party was chips and dip. The dip was always sour cream with Lipton dry onion soup.

When I look through my old Betty Crocker cookbook, I see all those cream cheese spreads. They were easy and used in sandwiches. Food got complicated as we moved away from preparing it ourselves. Then when someone actually made something homemade in their kitchen it was a big thing. For the years I lived as a "modern homesteader" I cooked that way 99.9% of the time. I made bread without a machine. I also mixed up my own cake and cookie mixes and had them in the pantry in jars. Then just had to measure it out and add eggs & oil.

Now I am still making most things myself in my kitchen. It is easier for me now that I don't eat high carb foods. Plus cooking for one.
 
Today I am planning on doing some major housecleaning. My counters needed to be washed down and I have things lined up along the back of them. So have to move everything while I work. Then the stove top and hood. Then mop the floor. I will feel better once that is done I am sure.

Yesterday was a beautiful day here. When I took my walk to the dumpster instead of coming back inside I sat out in the sun. Then my friend was coming home from somewhere and she sat with me talking for a bit. Then another lady joined us.

If today is as nice as yesterday I really should take a walk in the park. Won't be a lot of days like this soon. Except that I need to clean the kitchen first. I will see. I am only on my first cup of coffee.

I hope you do get out today, Kat. We're going to be 75 today. Maybe we're all going into 'Indian Summer'? I looked at your weather too; high of 73.

this is a problem when a) you're disabled and can't move easily to do a job that might take hours and involve a lot of lifting etc.. and b) it involves I suspect, doing it in a public area.... not something most of us would want to do I'm sure

Get someone to loan you their teen grandson.. :D
 
Sun is shining and the sky is blue! Love it if stays this nice. It is 52 right now and I opened the window. I was hot but I don't put my air conditioner on till it gets a bit warmer. Rabbit likes it when the window is open. He seems to enjoy hearing the noises and smelling the air from outside. He lays down closer to the windows when it is open. But at some point in the morning he goes to one of his hidden spots to really relax.

I think Sonny is coming up today because he is helping one of my friends figure out what is wrong with her scooter. She bought it used and has had issues with it even though it still looks new. So her insurance is going to pay for a brand new from the dealer one for her. If he fixes it she wanted to sell it anyway.

Sonny said after he sees what is wrong with it, he might buy it from her anyway and sell it himself. He is a wheeler and dealer........sells all kinds of things or barters. He will buy something from someone on marketplace and turn around and sell it for more than he paid for it. Sometimes it is something he will fix or make it look better. He has done good with mobility chairs on there.
 
Maybe I can't live in a forest now, but I try to find the beauty of nature around me. Even downtown in my city. On the way home I saw a bird that was almost pure white........not a pigeon or a dove. I had never seen one like this before I have seen many birds in my life. This one would not stay still for a picture though. I will keep my eyes open to see him again.

But what if a fire is started in her own apartment? People are so sick. You have to get killed or almost killed to even be able to report it I guess.

Maybe you could start a petition to evict her or organize a security team to check the building regularly for problems like fire. Maybe this person should be committed. Now that you've all been warned, your building owners could be held responsible, and they should be told that!

It is not that easy. A new company just bought the building and three other buildings as well. Nobody from the company has been here and we have not heard from or saw any of them. They are located in St. Petersburg, FL. Also our manager, who was fairly new, having been here only a few months gave her two weeks notice and today was her last day. So now there will not be anyone in the office at all. She told us if we had any problems to call the manager of one of the other buildings and gave us her name and number. So basically we are on our own. Except for the maintenance man. Unless he leaves too.

If there is another incident with her, we need to call the police. Leave things as they are and let the police see what she did. Everyone is on alert to watch her. The thing is a lot of the people here helped her and her mother. They drove them to the store, to the drugstore and to appointments.

Not to beat a dead horse, Katlupe, but truly, I believe I would send a certified letter, a heads up, to the owners in Florida.

It was VERY sudden. The new people had taken over and gave her a promotion. So she was learning how to do things their way and was watching training videos they sent her. Seemed fine. She told one of my friends that she got so upset one day about something she almost just left. Her son talked her into sticking it out and giving a two week notice. He said that is not the way she taught him so she listened to him and did that.

I talked to her a few times and she said it had become too stressful and she didn't need that. She had retired from 30 years with social services so was not in need of the job. Wanted to do something in her retirement that helped people. I have a feeling it was stress from the complainers in the building. I don't know for sure but they were on to her all the time with problems that she could not do anything about. I miss her already.
 
Sonny came up yesterday and he tried to figure out what was wrong with my friend's scooter. He could not. It might be in the electronics. If someone bought it they could probably get it fixed. We talked to her and her boyfriend for a bit then went to Walmart. Sonny is not buying it though. He doesn't want to work on it.

Yesterday, I vacuumed and today I will finish the other half of my counters in the kitchen. And do laundry too. That is all for today. I got worn out after the last two days of housework.

I am weaning myself from YouTube. I watch it too much and now they are making me take the adblocker off or get their premium. I decided instead I will not use it anymore. I am sick and tired of commercials and someone trying to sell me something. It is in your face all the time. I can still watch YouTube on my television but it has the commercials on it since I don't have the adblocker there. I will still limit how much I use it there. I watch some of my channels on Rumble if they are available there.

I do understand the people doing the videos have to try to sell all the time to make a living. But I don't have to buy or sit through it any longer. Not that I am being mean but I can't afford it. And I might buy their book from Amazon or something else they are selling but then I have to sit through a hundred more videos watching them trying to sell what I already bought. Or they will say they have more content available to you if you join their community which is a subscription. No more for me.

There's a button for skipping commercials on You Tube but I find that doesn't work well....or at all. I'm not willing to pay either because I'm already paying other's like Amazon Prime and AppleTV that I like better....and even those are iffy.

Maybe he was someone's pet and got loose. Some canaries are all white I think.

I am just sick of all the selling. I do put up with it on the television and that is enough.
