Reflections of My Life

Sonny took me to Walmart today. It was my lucky day........I was able to buy 2 T-bone steaks with over six dollars taken off each one. I always look at the steaks but cannot afford them. This time I could get two. One went in the freezer and one I had for supper. It was really good. I cooked some canned mushrooms with it. I always look for those yellow labels.

I am just finishing up in the kitchen. It is hard to do tonight. I had a hard time at the grocery store too. When I was doing the check out, and then I do Sonny's also. So it took me twice as long. Tomorrow I don't have anything I have to do except let my water guy in to deliver my water. I want to rest up to be able to go on the bus with my friends to Walmart. I don't need anything, I am going for the experience. I got my groceries today.

This morning our sun is shining and it was 50 degrees when I got up at six. After my shower I am going to be working on emptying out my cedar chest. My cousin wants it. She can refinish furniture and make it look good again. The inside is perfectly intact with the cedar and labels that were on it when it was brand new long ago (way before I got it). I finished my new book, Nourishing Fats and now am awaiting the companion book to it, Nourishing Broths. It should be here this week sometime. The book was not really new information for anyone who eats the way I do but tells the technical/ scientific truth and why people and doctors were taught the wrong health information. Not news.......profits and government.

I have added fermented foods to my daily foods. It will take time to see any changes but I don't really have digestive issues so my goal is to improve the Lymphedema and Osteoarthritis. Patience I tell myself. Just do it. This week Kimichi is the one I am using. Soon I will teach myself how to make my own fermented foods......the easiest & simplest recipes I can find.

I think I have solved my dilemma about YouTube and Adblocker. I think I told you that I can watch it on my television (through the Firestick). It does not have the adblocker on there so the ads do come up. I can skip a great deal of them. But when I am watching there and an ad comes up I can do other things without having to stop the video. I also mute the sound during the ad. Later on the computer I can go to the videos and hit like and write a comment if I want. Maybe I will take the adblocker off YouTube in the future but right now they are annoying me. Tired of the sell sell sell game.

The only ads I like to watch are the pet ones. Some ads (not the pet ones) I have seen are x-rated as far as I am concerned. Mute till they are done. Is it just me or is the music or crowd noises too loud? I have to hold the remote the whole time I watch movies or shows and the music will come on real loud. I have people living on both sides of me now and have to be aware of the loud music at night. Though they have never said anything and they are younger couples than me.

Be wary of scammers.......yesterday I received an email from Microsoft saying my account would be closed unless I went to it and of course they included the link. I knew I did not have a Microsoft account so I knew it was not legitimate. It wasn't. I put the title of the email in the search engine and found it was a scammer and do not click on it. Be careful out there.........we are fighting a war online.
 
There was a horrible fire at Tioga Downs racetrack early this morning. The barns where the horses were kept were burned down. I am not certain of how many horses were killed but I saw reports of 40, then one said 52. So not sure as of yet. This makes me sick to think of what these poor horses went through. My own horse was a former racehorse so it really hurts my heart to see this. Now they have arrested someone in connection to this for arson. Can you imagine someone doing this on purpose??? I am so mad. And sad for the loss of these beautiful animals.

Since I have stopped watching YouTube on my computer I have been getting a lot of other things done. So it was taking up and wasting my time. I still watch it but not as much since I don't turn on my television early in the day. Plus I have gotten back into reading books more which was always my favorite thing to do. I know a lot of people do not like to read on a Kindle but I find I read more on the Kindle than a paper copy. Even holding a book for very long will get my hands and even my shoulders hurting! I have a stand for my Kindle so I don't even have to hold it.

I totally agree with you as far as reading a book on my kindle Kat. No matter where I go, as long as I have my phone with me, I can read my books. I usually read everyday.
 
I did it! I did it! Took the bus this morning to Walmart. She picked us up in front of our building. There is a lift for wheelchairs and walkers on the bus and we had to ride that to get in the bus. It felt safe. My friend who lives downstairs went with me. The driver had a route and she had to go every which way around the downtown area. I didn't mind. Got to see some areas I don't get to.

She left us off at Walmart (and it was packed! Black Friday Deals)'s door at 10:30 and told us she'd be back for us at noon. We used the bathroom and then both went our own way. I spent most of my time in housewares. We were done by 11:30 and sat inside by the doors talking. We both have walkers so we had something to sit on.

Now I can do this again with no problem. Easy to do. I won't need someone with me to go there. It was nice having someone with me but I can do it alone too.
 
I could not hold out from YouTube. So I have subscribed to their Premium after all. It is not that much money, $13.99. That is where I watch the most. So I figured it was worth it to me. I just can't stand all those commercials I was having to see. Last night watching it with Premium made a big change to my enjoyment of it. Plus other channels are now coming up too.

On my television set the audio for adverts goes up, and then back to normal when the program resumes. Maybe because the advertisers think the program is so bad that we've gone to sleep. LOL I, now, mute the adverts when there's a station break automatically. I prefer to watch public TV because they are ad free.

It is kind of cold here today, 39 degrees right now. I keep turning my heat up because Rabbit is on the floor where it is colder. I have been just having a quiet day. Reading a bit then watching a show about the first foster children in China. It was interesting.

I just heated my leftovers for supper..........an early supper today. Just felt hungry and probably because it is cold and dreary. Food always makes you feel better. So I plan on watching my friend's videos that she puts on fakebook while I eat. She has this big old bear coming to her wild life feeders. I don't particularly care for bears, but at least it keeps the fox, coyote & bobcat away while it is there. And I don't want them to catch the bunnies!

I even get them on the channels I get through Prime Video. I thought $13.99 was a good price. It is worth it to me though not to get all those ads now. Plus there are a few other perks that go along with it. YouTube Premium.

well things are only worth what they mean to an individual.. and clearly you feel you get value...

OTOH I wouldn't be paying that for youtube.. I barely pay more than £10 more for my whole internet package.. and anyway I already have amazon prime etc..
 
I am rather new to SF. I thought this was a discussion thread. But, instead it seems more a daily diary thread. Hope I am not intruding. I was not invited. It's been an interesting read, though. Is it o.k. with you to leave comments?

I have Amazon Prime too. I pay $7.99 a month for that and now this. My internet is $24.99. I don't buy much else and don't go out much either so it is my entertainment. All my other expenses are pretty low so I can afford it for now.
