Reflections of My Life

The birds are singing, the sun is shining and coffee is in my cup............what could be better? I am prepared to have a good day no matter what happens. Sunday is usually a good day to get my laundry done because people go out for the day. I have gotten addicted to watching animal videos on YT so will probably watch a couple of them this morning while I finish my coffee.
 

Today is my bill paying day so I will be busy for this morning. I need to order more food for my bunny boy so will have a small grocery delivery sometime today. He has hay coming but not till Friday so might see if Walmart has one of those small (expensive!) bags to tide us over. It seems like I need everything this month so going through my list to see what I can put off till next month.

At least one washing machine is malfunctioning in the laundry room so I am glad I didn't try to do laundry yesterday. My luck is always to get the bad one unless there is a note put on it not to use it. So not doing that this morning. Instead I will do some cleaning in here that I need to get done.

I have not used the vibration plate for a couple of weeks now. I told you how it was making my knees hurt. Now I have done some research on that and think it may be because I have to sit to use it and my knees were bent. So now I am going to try it for 2 minutes on #1 speed and extend my legs out. I want it to work so badly! Then I am going to use the compression sleeve. I have not been using that either. So that is my plan for today. My plan for my life is to never give up, no matter what.
 
(Just wanted to pop in and say that side rails on the beds are considered a form of restraint. I spent many, many hours at the hospital where I worked attempting to keep a pt in bed when they didn't want to stay there. Patient rights. I completely understand that side rails can be abused/over-used, but it's also a safety issue. No easy answers.)

That is what I thought. I think if they put the mattress on the floor it would be better. She would not fall.
 
Today is my errand day. I usually dread it. But today Sonny is taking me to visit my friend who is in the local nursing home. First we will take care of Jeff's money so that I do not have to hurry. Then hopefully have a good visit with my friend. I don't know if she will know who I am but I still want to see her. I think she knew me here because of where I live. She knew my apartment and associates me with it. And Rabbit she seemed to know him. But she had gone downhill fast as soon as her daughter came to stay with them. That is my plan for the day.
 
Yesterday was a good day. We did not go grocery shopping since I can order online and have it delivered. Took care of my son's stuff then went to visit my friend. It was a good visit. She was sitting by herself in the dining room on her unit. When we came in and the nurse told her she had visitors and she saw us she had a big smile on her face. She knew me! In fact, she knew Sonny too.

We could not actually have a real conversation because she doesn't make sense all the time. I did like I always do, just answer what she says like I know and make more conversation. When we left she gave me a big hug and answered back to me that she loved me too. I am so happy I got to see her. I have missed her. Even though I didn't see her daily, she always came to my door about 3 times a week. Sometimes she came every day and some days more than once a day.

I didn't get bills paid yesterday because I was tired when I got home. I ended up going to sleep earlier than usual. Today I will get the bills paid. Supposed to be a hot day today so will probably get the air conditioner on early.

I love those! For years that's practically all I watched. Now, it's mostly elephants.
 
Got up this morning feeling overwhelmed with so much I need to do today. Sometimes it makes me feel panicky. Then I think to myself (or write it all down, then think), why do I think I have to do it all today? I don't have a job or someone telling me to do this today. So I look at the list and it does not appear that if I can't get it all done it would matter. At least not to anyone but me.

The district manager was here again yesterday. Of course, time to pick up the rents! She said that our manager is not coming back. She said she did not know this till yesterday. That the manager called her and quit. So that is that. One lesson I have learned living here is do not become friends with managers or maintenance men. They do not last.

Water delivery is coming today so that is one thing I cannot put off. And coffee......
 
I don't know what is wrong with me. I drop everything. I run my toes into the wheels on my walker constantly. Why? I know it is there. I was carrying a can and a cup of root beer to my computer and rammed my foot into the wheel on the walker. It hurt so bad and the root beer in the cup splashed out onto the carpet and some on the table. Barely missed the computer. Whew! That was close.

From now on I am carrying the cup empty (except for the ice) and the can unopened until I sit down at the computer.
 
Another busy day for me today. I have a hair appointment which means I will be walking outside. Good for me, I know. But I have a sore foot (rammed into my walker last night) which might make it worse. So basically that will be my day for today. It has gotten hot out but it is supposed to rain exactly at the time of my appointment. So hope I get there before the rain starts. I will be sure to carry my umbrella.

Last night we had a thunderstorm so I unplugged all my electronics. Went right to sleep.

I always take my Kindle with me to my hair appointments so I have something to do while waiting. Once she puts the color on, I have a long wait so like to read. All the other people waiting are on their phones, probably on fakebook. I don't do anything like that on my phone so I read. Looking forward to it today since I just bought a new book (a historical novel about the Oregon trail).
 
Woke up to rain this morning, Rained all night. Flooding alerts on my phone. Okay with me if it rains because I am not going anywhere today.

My friend's daughter came by last night to tell me good bye. She is going back home to TN and her husband. She thanked me for being a friend to her parents. No need to thank me. I love her mother as she is one of my best friends here. Miss her but at least I know she is safe. Sad to see her leave. I know she was a big help to her dad. Now he is on his own.

Yesterday, I was trimming Rabbit's nails and did pretty good. Until he started squirming like crazy and I could barely hold him............then he peed like crazy! All over me, the towel he was on and my table!!! Oh dear, my fault. He was trying to tell me and I was not listening. Cleaned up that mess and decided to let it go for the day. I will get to the back feet another day.

When I sit at the computer I tend to rest my elbows on the table. It can make them sore over time. A few days ago I put two coasters in front of me (the plastic craft kind so they are soft) and resting my elbows on those. Much better! Does not hurt now. My mother made them for me so it is like she is still looking out for me.

Looks like a pleasant day this morning. Rain is in the forecast for later in the afternoon. Getting some chores done now. Already had coffee and ready to get to work.

Welcome to our forum!

I am fortunate to live in a building with a maintenance man to change my bulbs that I cannot reach. Standing on a chair is something I cannot do anymore.........sad about that. I used to do it quite often.

When I answered this earlier, I was picturing you as a new person....maybe a man. :oops: Now I know it is you after your post. Welcome back and hope you stay.
 
It's perfectly fine kat. No worries.
I used to stand on chairs all the time too. But the last time was to change the porch light bulb. If it gets down to it I may have to talk to the landlord about putting in something I can reach from ground level that is far enough from the door to not have bugs in my face but close enough to see what's going on. I like those little yellow bulbs that the bugs don't like as much. He may hafta get creative and build a little to have a covered place for the light. I don't know.

Well, just be careful. Falling is the thing I am most afraid of. Have not fallen yet.........knock on wood!
