Reflections of My Life

@Fritz, it would probably be easier for him to just agree to change your bulb. Keep a yellow one on hand for when needed and he’s there.

Raining again this morning. I am not complaining though. I would rather it be wet rather than dry. Besides it turns everything green and flowers come up. I try to look at the good side of everything.

Before I got on here this morning I placed a grocery order for my son. He never tells me he needs food until he doesn't have any. Then I end up giving him my food. I do everything on a budget and giving him my food screws my budget up. Kids.......yeah I say that even though he is 55. I have to always remind myself he is way behind that in his mental capacity.

Yesterday, I made my supply of Keto Chow (meal replacement shakes) for the freezer. I just do not get enough protein if I don't have it daily. I make sure I have it in my budget every month because for me it is like my medicine. Some people put it in their coffee or drink it warm as well as a cold shake. I prefer it as ice cream because eating it slower with a spoon makes it more satisfying. Plus I love ice cream! And it is as good or better than real ice cream.

After the grocery delivery I hope to get back down to the laundry room. Need to finish up that big load of laundry. I wrote a big note to myself to put on the refrigerator.......DO LAUNDRY IN SMALL LOADS TWICE A WEEK NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!

Last night while Sonny was on the phone with me he was watching his two dogs (Cinnamon is a Dorgi and Rusty is a Dachshund). Cinnamon saved a dog biscuit he gave her in the early afternoon. She hid it and started eating it while he was on the phone with me. Rusty had eaten his when Sonny gave it to him earlier. So he sat on the floor watching Cinnamon eating her biscuit. He was drooling and his mouth was moving like he was chewing one too. Sonny could not stand it and gave Rusty another one. That is what I love about Sonny. He is so kind to his (and all animals) doggies.

I have started the process of getting an aide to help me in my apartment. Next week a nurse will be coming here for a 2 hour appointment to elevate me. Two hours seems kind of excessive but I do what I have to do. After that appointment a doctor is supposed to come for a one hour appointment. I was asked if I would rather have a zoom appointment or in my home appointment. I do not do zooms at all. Besides I had a zoom eye appointment and never felt it was that thorough.

The substitute property manager was here yesterday and gave me my final lease paperwork. So that is done. She said they are looking for a new manager for our building. I figure that will take awhile. Rumors were flying around here that our building was closing. I can guess who started that rumor. But others should not spread it. I asked her about it and she said no way are they closing it. She assured me and I believe her.

Finishing this cup of coffee and off to start my day..........

Today I did another load of laundry. Tomorrow I hope to get that last one done. Never, Never get behind on your laundry!!! So I was behind on getting things done. I am usually off the computer by now and watching videos for the night. But I ate late so have a few things to do for my bunny boy.

Just placed my grocery order before coming here. I still had over a hundred dollars left on my UHC card. I make sure to use it all by the last day of the month. It does not rollover to the next month but they do replace it. I certainly love this card and hope it never changes. I figure I will have to order groceries at least two more times this month.

Yesterday, Randy (maintenance man) moved the picnic tables to the other side of the driveway so he could mow the grass. I hope they stay there. Then I do not have to walk through the cigarette smoke when I walk outside. Or have smoke come into my windows if I open them. That would be nice but I am thinking he will put them back today.

You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get any help but that is the only way to get it. Nobody tells you to go sign up for this or that. Even the office for the aging does not offer information. You have to look for it yourself. Like me getting an aide. If you remember I had their services before but they did not work out well for me. Now I think I really need the help so will try harder to make it work. So many people who live here and have an aide to assist them so I figure I need to have one also. The idea is to help us stay at home.

My biggest issues is some of the cleaning, maybe laundry and running errands. I don't need anyone to cook or do my kitchen chores. There are certain cleaning chores that I cannot do and I can't stand it. Things I could do in 5 minutes with no effort. Now it feels impossible. I try not to get discouraged but having an aide would help (if she knows how to clean).

Kat, could you not ask for the Tables to stay where they've put them for the reasons you've stated here...

I would hate that, I have my windows open all the time, and the thought of people sitting underneath the winow smoking would have me infuriated...

I will ask but don't think it will matter if the smokers want them back where they were. They seem to be the loudest voice heard here. You know the squeaky wheel and all that. I am quiet and stay to myself so kind of stay invisible.

This is a wonderful idea, @katlupe! I hope the aide, nurse, and doctor make your life better!
I'm glad your apartment building will not close.
Have a great day!

Speaking of the smokers (not the tobacco smokers but the pot smokers) one of them is the one who verbally attacked me in the lobby a few weeks ago. This morning he was out back with a bunch of other people and he got into a big verbal confrontation with the maintenance man. He even called the police and reported him for harassing him. I don't know the particulars or what exactly started this. I think it may have been over their garden shed out back. I heard the district manager said it had to be taken down.

I heard (so could be another rumor) that he and his roommate were moving out. If so, it just may be quieter around here. I hope the maintenance man does not quit over this. He is an older man and quite nice.

I did not do the last load of laundry today because the repair man for the laundry room was here today. I will probably do it on Sunday. Usually no one around then.

Planning on having an easy do nothing Saturday. When I say do nothing, of course there are things I must do. Like taking care of my bunny boy. Making something to eat. Washing dishes. You know what I mean. No laundry today (tomorrow is another day). No vacuuming. Nothing too complicated or physical. Though I do plan on a walk around the hall a couple of times.

I think a do nothing day is good for me. Some days I have a long list of things I must do. I get rushed to accomplish it all. Does it matter to anyone but me? No, it does not. That is one thing I find in living alone is that I do not have to do anything I don't really want to do. Even cleaning somethings I can put it off to the next day or sometimes next week.

There are some I cannot put off. Like cleaning the bunny cage or cooking or cleaning the kitchen after cooking. I don't let jobs pile up because they are ten times worse when you finally get to them. Like the laundry. Which is something I put off from time to time. Then regret it.

I spent some time today seasoning my cast iron skillets some more. It takes time getting them to the condition I like them. I wish I had kept my old ones but I didn't. These new ones are really nice and I am happy with them. It is tricky getting them seasoned without having an oven but I am doing it.

Getting off my computer for the night. Hope you all have a good evening.

:) A campfire or a flame works great for that.

Yes, I know. I used to put them right inside a wood stove too. Miss having those options for this job. But I am glad to not be living with wood stoves anymore.

I think I got them seasoned pretty good now. These skillets are made by Lodge and now they preseason them. So it doesn't take too long to get them nonstick from seasoning. I know the key besides the seasoning is to use them.

Two different residents have been moving out this past week so the elevator has been getting a work out. I always feel that is when it starts to have problems. Too many trips or heavy items that hit the doors, walls and buttons? No clue. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Had a lot of stuff! And the art council was moving boxes of paintings for an art show at a gallery. Hope it will behave this time!

Yesterday I spent most of the day on my blog. Editing comments. Writing a couple of new posts. Trying to figure out why the font size changes on a whim. I set it at a certain size and publish it. Looks good. Next time I check it.........or 3 years later......tiny or super sized! Well my fault for using a free platform.

I spoke to Larry ( my husband who I do not live with but still married) on Sunday. You may remember he had a stroke in September. He has done a lot of work changing things over in the house to make it easier (Now! Not when I was there!). Switched from wood to propane for heating. And for hot water. The water is now in the house and he can use the washing machine. He has done a lot and is not able to use his right hand very well. He said he has to carry things on a wheelchair (which he uses in the house). Sad to hear but I think he will overcome that stroke.

I am trying to get him to file for an order of protection from his son. He has found so many things missing that his son stole while he was in the hospital. He broke things and was just destructive for no reason. Other than being an alcoholic and drug user. I believe his son would kill him if he got mad enough at him. He has not seen him since he left but that is because he does not own a vehicle and does not have a driver's license.

Today I have a visiting nurse from NYS making a home visit today. Supposed to be a 2 hour appointment. First step in the process of getting an aide. So I'll see how that goes. I put it off long enough. I know these programs are invasive and they get into my business but I feel a need for the assistance now.

I second that! 😉🤭😂

This morning I sorted the laundry to come up with a load of essentials to do today.

Still have a load of clothes, bedding, and chair covers to do tomorrow and Friday! 🧺🧺🧺

I’m so thankful that it’s just me and not a family!
It can pile up so quickly! I am trying to stick to the rule that if I have 2 nightgowns in the laundry it is time to do that job.

Medicaid & SNAP is NOT being cut! I see that being written everywhere. No just people that are getting it who are not qualified legally to get it. I am certainly not worried about it since I get both. The news implies that every now and then to get people upset. I do not watch the network news ever. In fact, SNAP recently recertified me and sent me a notice that I could get restaurant food from qualifying restaurants (none in my area but I wasn't going to use it there anyway).

I do not comment on those posts because it is political.

Glad to hear you won't be losing assistance. I know how important that is. Sorry to hear about your husband. Hopefully he'll stay safe.

If I message you can I get the link to your blog again? I lost it somewhere along the way. I can't afford to pay for a blog site so I use the freebie from Google. I don't really have too much trouble with it. I finally figured out how to post YouTube music into my blog for days when I don't feel like posting an image.

I'm gonna try to use my new Swiffer today and see if I can manage to mop the kitchen and bath without keeling over. :ROFLMAO: I gotta try to get back into the swing of things.

Do you mean Blogger? That is what I have used since 2005. Before that I used Yahoo360 which is when blogs were just starting out.

Had my appointment with the nurse from the state. I guess my mind is pretty sharp. She gave me all those things to remember and no problem for me. She asked a lot of questions about my socializing...........I told her I come here! Don't need any other socializing. :)
