Reflections of My Life

Well, I have been a bit down lately. Lots of things going on and is hard to always be positive. Unexpectedly someone knocked on my door and I was so surprised to find Sonny standing there! I needed to see someone and I guess it was him. I usually only see him if we are going shopping or to an appointment. He did end up taking me shopping to Walmart. Had a nice afternoon.

Today I have a lot to do and haven't even gotten my shower yet. Still drinking coffee because I slept a bit later than usual. I have been doing that lately. Even though I got my groceries yesterday, today I have to order my son's for him. I do not buy our groceries together or it is too much for me to carry. And his groceries come out of his money and I like to keep it separate. Then I have some laundry to do, just bedding and towels. I have to do some grooming on my bunny and will hopefully do that before I do laundry.

After all that is done I have to work on my son's Medicaid papers because when someone is recertified for it they mess up the whole thing! I have to figure it out myself and show them what they did wrong. They are terrible over there. Never return phone calls ever. Plus if you don't get the date stamped on your papers when you leave them they will say you did not return them. So I never mail anything back to them. Glad the office is so close. At least for now (they are trying to get the money to build a new county office building).

Yesterday, I had another unexpected knock on my door...........it was Sonny AGAIN! I had accidentally turned off the sound on my phone and he kept trying to call me all night. So in the morning when I did not show up on facebook or answer him when he posted on my timeline he drove here to make sure I was okay. No, it was my phone. So he had a cup of coffee and we talked. I will check my phone more often from now on.

The weirdest thing about living in an apartment building is the other people who live here too. Earlier this week one lady (one of the younger ones) was warning me that on Friday morning very early our hall was going to be sprayed for bed bugs. Then every time I saw her or the other one who lives on the other side of me this is all they could talk about. Even yesterday. Telling me I need to either stay in my apartment for 4 hours after it is done or leave my apartment for 4 hours. I said I would stay (due to Rabbit, I cannot take him out of here at this time).

So I was going to cover my door from the inside with these thick flannel sheets I have. I got up early and was going to do it but I don't know what I was thinking.........I cannot stand on a stool or chair to tack it above the door. Our doors are not airtight. It is now almost nine and no one has come here. I would think the manager or maintenance man should have been the ones to tell us about this if it was a real thing.

The worst thing for me would be the odor. I have no problem with staying inside my apartment for 4 hours. I have stayed longer than that most days. I am keeping my eye on the elevator to see if anyone else knows anything about this or if it is happening or not. I did see the maintenance man came to work today. I would call the manager but I doubt she came to work either. Honestly, managers cannot keep to a work schedule.

My friend told me she had a conversation with the manager in private. The manager said she was looking forward to this job because she thought our building would be senior citizens only. She wanted to make it pleasant for us and set up some activities for us. It is not like that at all. I wish it was even though I did move my son here and he is not a senior citizen.

Just as I posted that, the neighbor who had told me about the spraying for this morning, was coming down the hall. So I asked her about it and she said they did it yesterday afternoon instead???? I didn't smell a thing. And I did not stay in my apartment for 4 hours because I had to go downstairs for something. Just like I said...........weird!

I did most of my household chores earlier today. My neighbor took my garbage out for me so I am sitting down at the computer for now. She told me the Mexican guy who lives upstairs died during the night. He looked young to me but I don't know how old he was. He was quite heavy and had to use crutches to walk so maybe that is why he gained a lot of weight. I did see him on my errand day walking back from the grocery store and it looked like it was a hard walk for him. So sad.

My friend's neighbor's dog, Freckles died on Wednesday. I felt like I knew him because she posted daily videos of him at her house with her little dog, Charlie. I didn't even know him but I feel so sad about his death. I had the feeling he was going to die soon. Seems like there is a lot of death lately.

On a lighter note, I am working on making some changes in my apartment. For the coming cold weather. Though that is usually more around November. Getting ready for it. Now going to have some keto ice cream and watch a Cary Grant movie. I am on a Cary Grant kick presently. :)

Kat, yes weird that the spraying was done a day early!

I was busy yesterday pressure-cooking a frozen, meaty, rotisserie chicken carcass. Then straining, picking off the meat, making a mess and yadda-yadda. Have now 3 smallish containers in the freezer, and about 2 servings in the fridge. Also, I made a small batch of potato salad.

Today, my grocery order came and now I have seasoned yellow rice and a large split chicken breast in my new little 2- quart crock pot. I'm determined to like crock pot food other than bbq style pulled pork.

It's pretty warm here, 77.

I used to cook a lot in a crock pot. Maybe I will get it out and start using it again. Nice for a change.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the two ladies that had announced there was going be spraying done found out that they were wrong and made up a story about the previous day.

Just came back from taking my garbage out. The manager is in her office and I waited a bit to speak to her but someone else was in her office and going on and on. So didn't wait will try later. She was supposed to fill out a paper for my son. But if she did, she did not give it to me yet. I figure she didn't. Probably lost on her desk.

Ordered groceries for a combination order for Jeff & me. Needed some things for Rabbit so it will be here around one. Maybe when that arrives I can catch a moment with the manager. That is the reason we need a manager who is here routinely. So everyone doesn't line up to speak to her as soon as we know she is here. I don't think it is a situation that will ever get better. Due to the management company being cheap and not wanting so spend any money on our building.

Maybe you can arrange to email her in future?
Maybe she can make use of a couple of resident assistants.

They would not even let us help clean the building when there was nobody doing it.

I shouldn't complain here about it. I rarely need anything from the manager. It is just I needed a form filled out for my son's medicaid. Medicaid screwed up on his address and forgot he moved over a year ago. I filled out all his paperwork back then for a change of address. They sent his papers here at that time. Now this year they sent his recertification papers to his old address and seem to think he lives there instead of here. So I needed a landlord form filled out for him. I want to keep his medicaid current even though he does not go to doctors. No big deal, I can handle it once I get that paper. She will get it done for me today.

Doing a bit of cleaning while I have my coffee. Waiting for everyone on my floor to be up so I can run my vacuum. Planning on having some shaved steak with fried eggs this morning for breakfast. I normally eat around 11 because I do intermittent fasting but every now and then I try to mix it up a bit. It is good to have a change in your routine when you are following a keto lifestyle.

Yesterday was my husband's birthday so I gave him a call. We talked for almost 2 and a half hours! Yeah, we could always talk to each other. I wanted to ask him if he would have a problem with Sonny bringing me there to bury Rabbit when he dies. He said not at all. He loved my bunny boy too. I am thinking this time will be coming up in the near future and just wanted to be sure. I was going to do it anyway after all, I own half that house too. But I didn't want any problems when the time came.

I love those furniture sliders so much that I am going to buy the ones that are for heavy furniture that sits directly on the floor with no legs. My big dresser is like that and I would like to be able to move it easily so I can vacuum under it. I still have a bag of them left so will see if I have the right ones for the other dresser and the vanity. Everything needs a slider under it. The file cabinet does too but I have no idea if I could get them under it unless I empty it and not sure I want to do that (Big Job!).

Time for my 2nd cup...........have a great day!
