Reinvention

Sometimes in our youth we reinvent ourselves to accomplish a new and exciting goal. It might be a new job or a move to another state. Today we all have challenges put upon us by the pandemic and by political decisions. No more hanging out with family and friends. We don't want to wander off too far for fear of having to use a public bathroom.

I am trying to find a new me who is able to not only cope with but to thrive in this new world. I am reaching out to find others who are managing to find some sort of solace and even joy in the present. I enjoy watercolor painting, wordplay, crossword puzzles, inspirational stories, cats and other animals. I look forward to meeting you.

Hello, and Welcome to the forum, Alizerine. You will find a lot of opinions and ideas here, from all over the world. Lots of animals lovers and stories here as well. Where are you situated? I'm in Canada .. Toronto.

...at least you know you're not alone, and that we're all in the same boat....

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am in metro Atlanta, Georgia. We transplanted here from New England many years ago with my late husbands job. I recently lost my only child who was 53.

Some outdoor activity would be helpful but it has been unusually cold and nasty. I hope to thank each of you individually once I get the hang of this.

Welcome! Yup! ALWAYS trying to reinvent myself! I write, sculpt, paint, draw. I have to limit my exuberances.
Nice to meet you!

Oh! Just read about your Son. I'm sorry for your pain!

Hi Pinky. I live in Atlanta. I have been rereading some old books and my memory is such that they seem new again. An author I have liked is Anita Shreve and I just read A Wedding in December. It has many references to Toronto. I think she died last year and I am glad to have several of her books.

Thanks, Gaer.

New Mexico seems like a good place to be with your artistic interests. My 'studio' has been a dumping place for all things over the last few years. Once it is in some sort of order I hope to do some real painting. I have been keeping up with small scanable paintings for note cards in the mean time.

I envy your exuberance.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your child .. son or daughter? I, too, have only one child - a daughter who is 37. How very devastating that must be. Strength to you.

Thank you. He was my son and I had been caring for him for several years. Apparently something went wrong from a former abdominal surgery and he was afraid he might die and didn't want to be alone so rejected going to the ER. He was negative for Covid but practices concerning the pandemic influenced his decision. It was in October. I had a visit from an emergency service but they did little to help.

Thanks Aunt Marg. I once had an Aunt Marg but that's another story.

British Columbia does look beautiful. I've been to Montreal and Niagara Falls but that's about my experience with Canada. Your comedians are good.
