Venture capitists are buying old bowling alleys, and completely remodeling them to include all kinds of new attractions. I bet it is gonna cost u more than 5 bucks to play a couple games in these new entertainment centers.

America’s most popular declining sport

Good article a bit long but this kind of money making scheme is happening everywhere...we just don't have this kind of money laying around.

We used to go "duck pin" bowling when I lived in Virginia. Balls are smaller, lighter and don't have finger holes. You hold them in your hand and rest them against the inside of your wrist. The pins are also smaller and lighter. You get to roll the ball three times instead of only two.

I think in Canada, they're called Candlepins.

I always thought that if I came into some money, I'd open a duckpin alley attraction here in the Orlando area. It would be something new and it could be marketed as something a little more "refined" that traditional bowling. Instead of Bud and pizza, I'd offer tapas/small plates and craft beer/designer wines. I think I could get the Yuppies (if they still exist) in in droves.

I love to bowl but haven't attempted it in decades. I say attempt because I was pretty bad at it. Being ambidextrous, I never could figure out which hand was best to use. Now I "bowl" on my tablet and am much better at it using the app. Plus I get applause when I get a strike or spare. :D I'm always impressed by luxury mansions that have full entertainment spaces like movie theaters with popcorn and bowling alleys.

PD, that second one reminds me of a noisy sports bar. Sheesh!... give me a traditional English or Scottish pub instead.

Why can't they just leave crap alone? Maybe since people don't bowl much anymore they're trying to revive a dying sport. But raising prices to cover the costs of enhancements won't help.

i had to use the 6 pound ball and i wasn't great but i enjoyed it. i don't crap now because of my health and after covid and all. i can't afford to do anything these days.
