Remember the Texas Rangers?

Many of you have watched Larry McMurtrey's "Lonesome Dove" but there are two wonderful books about these Texas pioneer gunfighters. "Lone Star Justice" by Robert Utley and " The Texas Rangers" by Walter Prescott Webb. Many books have been written of these incredibly brave freedom fighters. The Texas Rangers showed extreme courage in upholding the rights of free men. Do any of you have any stories about these brave Texas Rangers? what had to be done and just went out and did it!

There's an old story about the sheriff from a small town who was trying to deal with a riot and telegraphed for the Texas Rangers to come.

When the train chugged into town, one Ranger got off.

The sheriff asked, "What, did they send me only one Ranger?"

The Ranger replied, "Why, do you have more than one riot?"
