Remember these old punch cards?

I remember playing those and when we won we used to have to tip the bartender 10% and buy a round of drinks so sometimes it was a losing proposition but we had fun.

I miss the camaraderie of the little local saloons but that was then and this is now!

I remember those cards. When the kids were small the hubby got one and we won a big stuffed rabbit. It came in the mail and was stuffed with straw. It smelled really bad and we had to get rid of it.

Yes aunt Bea, the old taverns were a place in history. I remember the metal ceiling and several, fans turning real slow. Smoke so thick, at times, you barely could see pass the front door. They had their own smell too. It was a great place to meet and get caught up on local gossip.

My grandpa was not a drinker, but he frequently went to a local tavern called The Workingman's Friend when working in the area (he was a painter and paper hanger) because it had a very good and cheap lunch. He'd bring home those punch cards. He'd also bring home match books with "girly" pictures on them, most likely to annoy my Grandmother, who'd tear the covers off them.

In Chicago, there was a tavern on every street corner!!

We still have punch cards at the social club that I belong to. The cost is anywhere from ten cents to a dollar per punch.
