I have seen current photos of them making horses manes, forelocks, and tails unidentifiable. There are photos on Shutterstock that the manes and forelocks are so full, the only hope of ridding them of the burdocks is to shave the manes and forelocks off.

I remember how they hurt your fingers when you tried to take them off. Moistening the fingers with saliva helped some. We called them "field lice".

I didn't know what you were referring to at first, but yes, I remember those. . I'm pretty sure at least a couple of them got on me. I don't think they were too much of a problem where I grew up though

Dam Goat Head Stickers is bad in Texas, especially West Texas.

We got a Hotel Room one night in Austin and some Peckerhead had pulled off a bunch of Goat Head Stickers and they was all in the carpet. I found them by stepping on the dang things.
I pulled a couple dozen out of the carpet with my Leatherman. It was easier and faster than moving to another room.

I had unkind thoughts of the .....person who did that. If I knew Voodoo and Black Magic I would have made it bad on them.... ha !

Aussies have the Bathurst Burr , they are just about impossible to get out of socks ….


Bathurst burr is amongst the most common and economically serious weeds in Australian agriculture. The burrs readily adhere to the wool of sheep. Wool contaminated by Bathurst burrs represents a substantial cost as additionally processing is required to separate the burrs. Bathurst burrs are also a significant weed of summer crops and horticultural crops.
