The first European car maker to have seat belts as a standard item was Volvo. JImB.And remember when cars didn’t have seat belts? The first seat belt equipped car my parents had only offered them in the front seats. I asked as a child why I didn’t have a seat belt in the back seat, and got the answer that the back of the front seats would stop me, presumably when I went cannonballing against it… oww!![]()

From what I have read, turn signals in cars were considered an extra option in a car, until the 1960's. I remember my dad having to roll down the window on rainy and snowy days to signal his turn or stop.
