Remember When Cars Didn't Have Turn Signals?

From what I have read, turn signals in cars were considered an extra option in a car, until the 1960's. I remember my dad having to roll down the window on rainy and snowy days to signal his turn or stop.

And remember when cars didn’t have seat belts? The first seat belt equipped car my parents had only offered them in the front seats. I asked as a child why I didn’t have a seat belt in the back seat, and got the answer that the back of the front seats would stop me, presumably when I went cannonballing against it… oww!

The first European car maker to have seat belts as a standard item was Volvo. JImB.

Yeah, you couldn't do that nowadays in the city. Someone would run up and steal the watch off your arm.

I remember my father making hand signals on a couple of occasions to inform another driver that he was going straight across at a crossroads. Always seemed a bit quaint to me..

Here in Albuquerque, only maybe 20% of drivers use signals at all.

I was born and raised in Massachusetts. Using turn signals is frowned upon. There's some kind of horrible curse, if you do use it. They've only replaced one turn signal light in the last 50 years.
