Remember when everyone raked and burned their leaves in the fall? Remember how good that smelled?

Oh, I do! It did smell good. But later it was banned. Just too dangerous and polluting.

It is very polluting but we have a fair size property so bagging everything isn’t practical. Most leaves get put in our compost pile or are mulched for the lawn.

Well at least I have the pleasent memories before they banned it.

I remember we just don't do it...pile them up for compost, rake them into the flower beds, mostly just run over them with the mower to chop them up.

It's wonderful how smells bring back memories though......

When I was a kid, the leaves were raked into the ditches that ran along the road and burned there. We kids would play a game of jumping over the burning ditches. Somebody always got a burn, never anything serious, thank goodness. Mothers would be screaming at us. Fathers would say, "Well, what did you THINK was going to happen when you did something that stupid?"

I remember when I was young, my father would say while we were fishing, "if these trees could only talk they would tell many stories". That reminds me of me. Old enough to tell many stories.

Yes indeed, those "good old days back then", but today, many, many things have changed.
