The Princess of Wales today lead the nation alongside the King and the Prince of Wales in remembering Britain's war dead on Remembrance Sunday.

Charles was among those in the capital taking part in a two-minute silence at 11am to honour those who died in conflict, with similar events taking place nationwide - as hundreds of emotional veterans this morning gathered at the Cenotaph.

Military veterans have gathered on Whitehall in central London for the Cenotaph service

The Royal British Legion's veteran parade is expected to involved 10,000 veterans, representing 326 different armed forces and civilian organisations, marching past the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London.

And thousands of people have lined the. streets of Whitehall for the annual event, including a two-minute silence at 11am,

We were at the Christchurch Remembrance Service. Laurence Binyon's moving, poetic tribute, For The Fallen, was read. It was certainly emotional, the most famous verse being:
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Armistice Day was decided that on Nov 11 at 11:00 A.M. All shooting should stop because the Germans had surrendered. It was someone's brilliant idea to set the time as the 11th Month, 11th Day & 11th Hour. Sounded neat huh! Only trouble with that was the death toll reached 2000-3000 extra deaths for WW1. They kept shooting right up until 11 AM. The actual count was 2738 that were killed during the extra time.
