I'm currently living in a "senior home". When I got out of the hospital, I needed to be here. But a few weeks ago, I was to go back home. But the electricity at my place was out or while and the pipes froze and one spewed water all over the bath. While home owner insurance covered most of the repairs, it is costing me about $16,000 to repair the damage. That happened to one of the nurses here. it cost her over $10,000. So to be honest with you, what are you expecting to get for $500? Maybe a rug cleaning and good vacuuming?
I JUST NOTICED THE PIC>IT JUST DAWNED ON ME> GOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for your misfortune.

Believe it or not,I actually LOVE the place! Very rustic looking. Yeah,it could use a few things here and there, but if I only had $500 to spend on it,I think I would have some steps put up to the front door. At our age, those high step up and downs are a killer on the knees!

Actually, if you had a place like this, you could make some serious money by carefully taking it apart for the "vintage" wood. There is a thriving market for old wood that can be "planed" into aged looking wood floors in modern houses.

Not sure about my budget for the paint Keesha, maybe in a year or two. The Onyx Black looks promising.

Back when I was in college we painted the living room of the house we were renting black. We were inspired by the song "Paint it black" by the Rolling Stones.

I just looked it up on Zillow and I can't believe that dump is still standing 50 years later. I wonder if anyone has repainted that living room?

Mega bucks. People I know had their barn dismantled and they were paid for the dismantling. Barn boards are worth so much money. Those house boards are very interesting and could be placed to look fabulous.

For sure! There is a Mennonite lumber company a few miles from here, and they send crews all over the area looking for old barns, etc., to tear down for the wood. After decades of sitting in the sun, that wood has lost 99% of its moisture, and when properly prepared it gives a floor that can add thousands to the value of a new house...and will last forever with minimal care.

sorry jim i didnt know you were living there i was trying to save you some money--some said get a wrecker to knock it down but i was trying to save you some money--so torching it would be cheaper--then you could spend the money for a steak and some millers

Yes and those Mennonites would know how to make that wood look amazing. They are such good woodworkers.
I’d love to have a barn board closet sliding door

YES. It’s a ‘ Burning Down the House’ Party. Then you have $500 left for suitable beverages
