Renewed faith in Amazon

I needed a new radiator for my F150 pick-up.

Called 2 parts stores in my area and they said they would have to order one and would be 7 to 10 days to get one (if in stock)!! $250 plus tax!!

Went to Amazon and found one for $119 plus tax. Ordered it on Friday and received it on Wednesday!!

Yep same here and this is one of the reasons so many high street stores are closing. Even now if you go into a store looking for something , they'll tell you they don't stock it in house, but to go online to their website and order it.. well, excuse me if that isn't committing retail high street suicide .., and 9 times out of 10 I can get what I want from Amazon businesses without moving from my seat.. and more affordable the majoirty of the time...

My concern is that if Councils don't start reducing rates and taxes for high street businesses, and stop stores closing, we'll be at the mercy of online shopping which will then have no need to be cheaper than the bricks & mortar stores...

@Devi , our Amazon Prime does next day delivery and sometimes even same day....

I fully share your concern about Amazon changing the culture of the local shops.

I am disabled...so, I really need the delivery service. But, I do agree and worry about losing culture to the movement of these large businesses.

and, by the way, thanks for all the wonderful music posts that you make...I have really enjoyed them. I think you look a bit like Annie Haslam, the lead singer of the band Renaissance. That is one of my wife's favorite bands...

Well thanks Jon, I love music so it's no hardship for me to post, but it's great to know you're enjoying it.

I'd never heard of Annie Haslam, so I had to look her up just now, and even I can see the resemblance... hopefully not quite as old given that she's around 10 years older than me but certainly there's a resemblance in her younger photos, so thanks for the compliment.. that's very kind..(y)

her voice is simply...wonderful.

she also does visual art...

Maybe you guys have a common ancestor on the family tree???

I think that Amazon tries to do the right thing. I had ordered a new bass speaker for their Echo system, which arrived clearly used, marked, and in a torn-up box even missing the power cord. Used and incomplete items should never be sold as new. I returned it and they promptly sent a new one.

I’m still debating whether Amazon Prime is now worth it, as they’ve raised their annual membership fee by $20…

re Amazon Prime...I order a lot from Amazon (I am disabled). So, we easily save more in free deliveries than the annual fees for Prime. Not anywhere close. I don't think folks have to order as much as we do, in order to save more through the free deliveries, than we would pay out in Prime membership...

Broke a belt on the deck of my Troy-Bilt riding mower..

Troy-Bilt website wanted $71.99 for a replacement belt!!

Amazon wants $21.99 (delivered tomorrow) for same replacement part number.

oh, companies love to rip off customers with parts. Big scam, across many companies.
