And here I have been feeling sorry for myself about the gopher who finally found my garden and dug into my newest raised bed, decimating a lot of choice plants. Deer would be so much worse and they do come down from the hills around here and I know many who complain about their unauthorized pruning help. They still stop a few blocks uphill from me .. so far. My wife's cousin is a big hunter with a freezer full of venison but it isn't to everyone's taste. Good luck to us both!
I'd rather have the deer, than the bears!
Well, thing is, the bear would just go after the trash cans and mess things up a bit
then leave
The deer.....heh, they were going after whatever we tried to raise
Gardens were tough enough up there
I take it you've never seen what a bear can do inside a house, thats after they have the fun of breaking in!
Yeah, my buds up in Alaska and BC have shown me pics
These blackies down here aren't quite as aggressive
However
I wouldn't turn my back on a bear
And after a visit, we'd be a bit spooked for awhile
Had to walk my lady to the outhouse at night
armed with some potent fire power
One of my worst encounters, however, was with a Buck mulie
Thinking I was challenging him and his harem
We stared each other down for a spell
I wasn't armed
He didn't put his head down and charge
but it was still a bit unnerving

Without a doubt, deer can kill a man too.
Good idea, Pepper, but CinnamonSugar would have to drink a lake to pee-proof her garden.
