Retro Halloween/Horror and Science Fiction From the 50's & 60's

Paladin1950

Still love 50's & 60's music!
These are some movies I recall seeing as a child during the monster movie years of the 1950's and 1960's.

This is one of the first "gimmick" movies. The original producers said that they would pay for a free burial for anyone who died of fright while watching The Screaming Skull. Needless to say,
no one ever did die, at least from fright. This is one of those films where the original theatrical trailer, made it seem that it was a lot scarier than it actually was. The trailers can be seen on You Tube.

I tried to watch this and I was too frightened to stay. I did keep peeking in to see what was happening though. I was 6.

Ken Curtis who played Festus on Gunsmoke, was the producer of both movies. He had a supporting role in The Killer Shrews. Hand puppets and coon hounds with ugly masks, were the shrews in the movie. The Gila Monster, was actually a Mexican beaded lizard.

I remember seeing this advertised as a coming attraction, at a drive-in in Rochester, NY. I was about 7 then. It wasn't until I saw it on television years later, that I found out that it was a Japanese movie. Dubbed in English of course.
