I'm still working my way through Northern Exposure seasons as they become available through the library, but I'm also rewatching Twin Peaks on Netflix. This is the first time I've watched it since it first aired way back when. I recall being pretty creeped out and scared by some of the stuff back then, so was a little hesitant to watch it again.
Now on rewatching I find Kyle MacLachlan's performance to be quite funny, and wondering how he kept a straight face so often. I hadn't remembered either that David Lynch has a brief appearance as a characer too. Sure, some of the creepy parts are still creepy (Leo and Bob, of course), but for the most part it's a completely enjoyable and weird rewatch.
About three years ago I was taken by a friend to the Snowqualmie Falls that's the show opener and we ate at the diner used in the show. We had pie, of course.
The other thing I didn't realize until I looked it up was that Northern Exposure and Twin Peaks were being filmed in WA at the same time, hence some of the TP references in Northern Exposure. I read one site that expounded on how NE was a rip-off of TP, but I don't really see it, even watching them side-by-side now.
Between watching Northern Exposure, Twin Peaks, and reading the whole Song of Ice and Fire series (that Game of Thrones is based on), I have been having some really weird and entertaining dreams. Ser Joel Fleischman? Cersei as a waitress at the Brick? Agent Cooper in knight's armor on horseback? Dragon sightings in Alaska? Some surreal crossover for sure.
Have you watched Twin Peaks since it first aired? How did you feel about it second time around?
