A viral infection, most sources say. He was scheduled to appear at SharkCon, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the movie "Jaws".

According to the article, his wife stated he has Bronchitis. Probably many of us have had it more than once. I had it several times and went into pneumonia twice from it.

I enjoyed watching “Jaws,” especially the part where they were sitting at the table in the boat drinking to each other’s shark wounds. When Quint mentioned he was on the USS Indianapolis, I became very interested in that terribly horrific sinking of the ship and the events thereafter. If you have never read about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, you are missing a huge event in history.

I enjoyed watching “Jaws,” especially the part where they were sitting at the table in the boat drinking to each other’s shark wounds. When Quint mentioned he was on the USS Indianapolis, I became very interested in that terribly horrific sinking of the ship and the events thereafter. If you have never read about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, you are missing a huge event in history.

One of my ships often declared "swim call" so the crew could have a dip while we were transiting. This could be mid-Pacific, South China Sea or any other wet spot we were steaming through.

While we had sailors in the water, armed guards were posted at the railings just in case any sharks showed up. Not an analog for a ship in combat, but an old Chief who had been in WWII told me that practice was influenced by the Indianapolis.

I like Dreyfuss. He was a good enough actor and I enjoyed watching the movies—“American Graffiti” and “Stand By Me” although he only had a bit part as the storyteller.

Everyone of those men on the USS Indianapolis deserved to be awarded a CGM and probably more. They were forced into being heroes by their ship being torpedoed by 2 hits to her from a Japanese sub. The 80th Anniversary will be celebrated on July 30, which is the day the ship was hit.

My Colonel who told me that 39 Marines were onboard and only 9 survived. The other 30 either went down with the ship, drowned or were killed by sharks. A total of 1196 were onboard and only 316 survived. It was only by accident they were spotted by a PV-1 and the pilot radioed for a PBY in the area for support. The pilot on the PBY, which was an amphibious flying boat, landed on the Pacific to help rescue efforts. The men wanted out of the water now, even if they had to sit on the wings.

I watched the YouTube video of the sinking and events thereafter of the U.S.S. Indianapolis. I felt heartache for the men that were in the water for what, 5 days? I put myself in their place and it was scary. God Bless each one of those men that survived or didn’t survive.
