Well 2016 continues to kill off all my old favourites. Parfitt died today. The Status Quo guitarist had been ill for many years but actually did still manage to perform on occasions with the band. I seem to remember that he was critically ill many years ago and was not expected to survive at that point. However, a quadruple bypass added a few more years to his life.
I was a big Quo fan when I was young and saw them live several times. One of those occasions was at the Apollo in Glasgow where they recorded a live album. I remember clearly that he and Rossi were amused at the way the blacony used to bounce when the audience bounced up and down. Probably a scarier thing for them to watch than for us standing on it!
