Ridiculous Prices. What Have You Seen?

When I was running out of green tea, I looked on Walmart.com That was a little over a month ago. They had one box of 48 listed for $9.46!! Thinking maybe that was a mistake, I just checked again today before posting this. Now one box is $15.43!!! Have they lost their minds?! I once saw that Amazon listed six boxes for a ridiculously high price, so I didn't buy it. But at the time I saw the Walmart price, Amazon's price had come down so that a pack of 8 boxes came to $3.00 a box after my 5% cash back. I jumped on it.

In Walmart's store, I saw a can of Lysol, previously about $3.49 for $6 and change. Now I notice the website has it listed for $6.00. I've been buying disinfectant spray from Dollar Tree for $1.00. The can is a little smaller than the Lysol can.

My album was selling on Amazon a while back for close to $1,000 (for one). I thought that was hilarious and hoped nobody would be foolish enough to pay that price. It was being sold as a rare item. Thing is, I wouldn't have gotten one penny from that sale. :( What ridiculous prices have you seen lately?

Grapefruit, one of my favorite go to things, over $1 a piece and hard to find at that price!
I just paid $1 a piece for two honey crisp apples, because I wanted to try them. Wasn't impressed, won't do that again. About two months ago, I paid $1 each for naval oranges. Then the store had sales on the Halos and navels, so I got them at much better prices.

We go out to lunch on Thursdays and Sundays when my partner is off work. We eat gourmet tacos, Vietnamese food, burgers, salads, bowls, etc. All are restaurants where you order at the counter and then pick up the food or they bring it to your table. We are rarely getting away under $40 these days.

I still get out of Trader Joe's with a ridiculously low bill. I'm always amazed at how much I can buy at such low prices. And their entrees are good. We had Parmesan Chicken with tasty Tortellini last night. Tonight we had Indian Butter Chicken with rice. Delicious. That's how we afford our Thursday and Sunday lunches!

All the grocery items we normally buy have gone up. Most prices have just about doubled. Looks like we're going to have to start eating differently. Not that we eat in grand manner or anything, but we're probably gonna have to eat more home made soup, and more pasta and rice dishes. Not pasta-rice dishes; pasta dishes and rice dishes. Although, pasta went way up, too, but at least it's filling, and you can get several meals per package.

Dollar Tree, where prices were traditionally a dollar for everything, has gone up to $1.25. The world is coming to an end, I tell you........
Yeah, I watched the sign guys taking the Everything's a Dollar off their wall, when my lady was shopping.
Asked them what they were putting up.....'nothing'

My lady sez she's gonna boycott 'em.
Yeah, right.

She does get some great buys.
However, I broke her from getting 'cheap' TP
I get it by the case, 1000 sheets/roll
Showed her the math per sheet
Now, I'm TP king

But, she knows her food prices.
Gotta watch her, however.
She got a pack of hotdogs for 50Ā¢
Pretty outstanding (first glance)
Thing is, it's full of nitrates
Nitrates give me migraines
.....and evidently ice pick headaches
We had chilidogs yesterday
Today, I have an ice pick sticking outa my head.
She fessed up on the hotdog buy
Told her to skip the middleman, and just get the ice pick

Me, I don't even look at grocery prices.
If it's on the shelf, and I want it, I get it.
The big if for me is if it's on the shelf....

Now, building material prices, I'm on it.
When 7/16 OSB shot up to 60 some bucks a sheet, I 'bout went nuts
It's now settled in the $40 range, which now seems a good buy

I do think the bottom line, in the very near future, will not be price, but.....availability

I love Trader Joes. One of my favorites is their frozen Kung Pao Chicken. Comes with a vegetable pack, but even better if you toss in one or two bell peppers and maybe some onion of your own.

I was just going to suggest that you buy your favorite 'teas' at Dollar General, Family Dollar or even Big Lots. I usually find alot of items at Big Lots, i.e. teas, soups, olives, pasta, canned mushrooms, paper goods, etc.
Thank you Pam. I'm an avid Dollar Tree (DT) shopper but I've never seen Bromley tea there and that's my brand. Plus many of the teas only have 20 teabags per box, so the price I paid for Bromley really isn't that much of a difference. I used to be able to get the Bromley at Shoprite for between $1.89 and $2.29 per box of 48. I don't consider Dollar General and Family Dollar to be true dollar stores so as long as I can shop at DT, I don't bother with them. There's a DT and Big Lots right together in one of the strip malls where the DT I prefer is located. Sometimes if DT is out of something I'll need soon (such as ammonia), I'll get it from Big Lots, since I have to depend on my son or grandson to take me to these places.

Have you noticed how supermarkets play around with prices? They reduce the price of something to tempt people into buying it, then put the price up. People stop buying, so the price comes down again....constantly yo-yo-ing. Coffee pods and chocolate biscuits seem to be the most popular items for doing this.
I buy in bulk while the items are on special offer, then wait until the price drops again before stocking up again.
