Riot like protests in France/Paris suburbs over lockdown measures

I will be quite surprised if the same doesn't start happening here, in many of our major cities. The longer that high unemployment numbers last, the more people will be pushed to the edge. This government "stimulus" money isn't going to last very long, and when faced with no means of supporting themselves, many of those living at/near poverty levels, will come unglued.

You're right. They will. More people than you can guess at are already at the breaking point.

Tick tock, tick tock - I hear or perhaps fear that the tipping point is quickly approaching. Steel yourselves and be ready for what is yet to come.
Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

I'm not sure that the riot will be filled by the poor or working poor - we are used to scarcity and limited lives. I do believe that the wealthier population that see their fortunes lost in the stock market may take to jumping from roofs, as they did in the last, great unnatural disaster. As for riots, hmmm - seems to me that most of us in the US have become complacent or have given up thinking that we can change anything. I'm not sure that very many people have it in them to get that aroused to riot. They will, I think, just use drugs and alcohol to sooth their nerves. (I'm not sure which is worse)
