RIP Ian Tyson

Canadian folksinger Ian Tyson has died at 89. He was a pioneer, very influential, and with his then-partner Sylvia Tyson nee Fricker wrote songs such as "Four Strong Winds" and "You Were on My Mind." Then he became a rancher in Western Canada.

I used to live in Alberta and I remember that Ian Tyson would give a show here and there. I never went to see him and now I never will. I think he lived to a ripe old age (89) because he lived on a ranch in Southern Alberta. Chances are if he lived the music business full time, he would have been long dead before now.

I feel an affinity to him as Alberta, Vancouver and Toronto were/are part of my life.
