I am so sorry.

18 years was a good long life and lots of wonderful memories for you:)

Are you really going to cremate Oreo and bring her home? I would if I didn't have burial space but, by now, my fireplace mantle would be end-to-end with cremation jars; many of them pretty big as there's a horse out there, amongst the dogs and cats")

No Gin here, will Jack Daniels work?

I actually wanted to get rid of this dead cat quickly BUT the 15 year old gal had other ideas and the 7 year old wants to know "what happen to Oreo, why is he sleeping with his eyes open."
That cremation part never happened, its a cat for Gods sakes. The post I made up for the kid.
Its just one less cat I have to clean up in that that litter box, give you an idea of how large that box is.(g)

So sorry, Davey. I know how hard it is to lose them, but she was obviously loved a great deal. :love_heart:

Here's the thing with this cat,Oreo, he didn't look or feel right last month so I took him to the vet.
This vet,who is well known, did the usual tests and the xrays and says he THINKS this cat has a kidney problem since he was not eating and did say "this cat may be near the end of its life".
He says I should force feed him baby food with this big syringe and use the smaller one for water. The cat was skin and bones for several weeks after.
I didn't tell the kids what the vet said but I did tell them "Oreo is very sick and old and may not be with us much longer"
The teengal took over the job of feeding this cat till one day she reached under the bed where the cat was,she wrapped him in a blanket like she always does when feeding him. The cat meowed at her and died.
She brought him to me and ask "what's wrong with him???"
I simply just told her "he died in your arms and you should feel good about that". The the crying started...

Davey, so sorry about Oreo. He had a good long life and was obviously well loved. I have 5 cremation urns of four schnauzers and a ferret in the closet. Anyway, sitting here with a box of Russell Stover chocolates and a Canadian Whiskey, savoring the chocolate and drinking to Oreo's memory.

Not very many better ways to go, that's for sure.

18 is a pretty long life for a cat, and if it's any consolation for the kids chronic renal failure is one of the most common causes of death among cats.
