Robert DeNiro became a dad (again) at 79

It seems Robert DeNiro is very proud of his 7th child at 79 years old. C'mon. I'm sorry, but I find a man (almost 80) having a newborn is selfish and more about image building. Is an 80 year old dad with a newborn son going to have a football catch with his 15 year old high school son at age 95? I'm all about finding love at any age, but having new borns when you're almost 80 is ridiculous. Men have two heads....the big one on their shoulders, and the small one between their legs. Outcomes are different depending on which head is making life choices. I don't think Robert used his big head with this outcome.

I'm sure DeNiro was just as surprised as everyone else.

He and his lady know the kid will lose his father within a decade or two. Meanwhile, they can afford to hire someone to teach the kid anything from sports to ceramics if DeNiro's older kids, nephews, and nieces are too busy or disinterested.

I was prepared to adopt my 2yr-old foster son when I was entering my late 60s. I don't see a problem that DeNiro and his wife can't handle.

There are worse risk's for the baby's health than not having anyone to pass ball with.

Down's syndrome, low Apgar score, seizures. There's even risk for the mother who has a greater risk of developing Diabetes when the father is older.

A certain drug has made this possible, but you usually can't fool around with mother nature without paying a certain price.

Probably no football, but hopefully the kid will get a much better inheritance than most of us...

Another reason this is a bad idea is the risks to the baby from an older father, see: Effect of paternal age on offspring birth defects: a systematic review and meta-analysis https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7803514/
Apparently there is a woman involved in this child bearing decision as well...?
You'd think so, but I see no mention of her. De Niro had prostate cancer. That does not always make having children impossible, but often a whole lot harder. Some kind of medical intervention was likely necessary. Probably not your average conception process... Not sure I want the details...

In his interview he said the baby was not a surprise, that they'd planned it..

Oh for crying out loud! The guy is 79. He might drop dead tomorrow or if he is lucky, he might live until he is 90. At 90, his son/daughter would be 11 year old. Camping trips and baseball games anyone? GIVE ME A BREAK!

Some of these Hollywood "dubs" might have money but they don't seem to have much in the matter of brains.

Baseball and camping trips are small things.
Being a good father is being there consistently for the child to provide a sense of security, answer the child's questions, set a good example, hear about their day, and make them feel loved.

I don't know if Deniro and the mother are living together, but If they are he only lives a few years his child will have more of a father experience than a lot of children get these days when they're born to single mothers.

Ummm….. did not the baby’s mother choose Mr. deNiro? Where are her brains? is also a fair question to ask.
IMO, it’s none of my business. I find celebrities boring.

Exactly. Also, a father or mother of any age can pass away and the child will have to rely on the surviving parent, family and friends. Not a big deal.

And she decided to make sure she was included in the will or would get alimony.

A few years ago he was complaining about needing to take bad roles because he needed the money to pay for the ex-wife’s and all the kids.
perhaps De Niro needs a new accountant above all else?

I try to ignore Hollywood as much as I can. IMO, most of them don't have an opinion worth the time to listen too. I rather hear about the ones who donate time/money & support people in need. Like the ones who support our military, first responders, disaster victims & other individuals. Very few seem to have real talent anymore & seem more than happy to make a public display of themselves. Lately I find myself watching more of the movies from Hollywood's Golden Age & TV reruns from the 60s & 70's. Just me...

Yes, it is his life & he can do what he wants and I do hope the best for all three of them. However, when your an actor & you willingly put your life out there for all to see, people are going to think about what happened, then talk about it & even have even more questions.

I'm in no way trying to be offensive or mean, but with his age & health issues, all which can reduce fertility, is he sure he is the father? It's sad, but it wouldn't be the first time this happened to a man.

Just a question that came to my mind ... not sure about anyone else.
