Robert Duvall Dead at 95

RIP Robert Duvall
In his later years he enjoyed dancing the tango. To overcome his bowleggedness his teacher told him to place a quarter between his knees and keep it there while standing and taking small steps.
I don't mean to be funny on this sad occasion. I enjoyed and admired his work and was always interested in his anecdotes.
My favorite of all his impressive work was Lonesome Dove.

I liked him especially in westerns. RIP.

I liked him in the westerns too. Broken Trail was a mini series and one of my favorites.

RIP Mr. Duvall

Very sad news indeed.
Robert Duvall was one of those rare actors who didn’t just play a character—he inhabited them so completely that you forgot you were watching a performance. He had a way of bringing quiet strength, humor, grit, and humanity to every role he touched. In a world full of actors, he was a true original.

For me, his work in westerns stands above the rest. No one captured the spirit of the frontier the way he did. Lonesome Dove has been my favorite movie for as long as I can remember, and a huge part of that is because of the life he breathed into Augustus McCrae. He didn’t just portray Gus—he became him. Warm, stubborn, brave, mischievous, loyal… all the contradictions that make a person unforgettable.

In my view, those are impossible boots for anyone else to fill. Duvall had a presence that can’t be replicated, only remembered with gratitude.

He was as good as they get—an actor whose work will outlive all of us, and whose characters will keep riding across our imaginations for generations. I’m grateful we got to share the trail with him, even from a distance.

I read The Lonesome Dove and it instantly became my favorite book. I then watched the mini series and Robert Duvall played the Gus McCrae character just had I had pictured it in my mind while reading the book. RIP :( .
