Robot dog herds sheep in New Zealand

A U.S. engineering firm and a New Zealand software company are testing out a robotic dog's abilities to emulate its biological counterparts with a traditional canine task: herding sheep.

It’s too bad that in that entire clip, no sheep were herded. It’s still impressive though.

Now they have robots to milk cows. It’s all automated. It’s actually quite remarkable how far advanced society has become but poor Fido.

The robot dog's agility is remarkable. If it needs to be controlled remotely to herd sheep, I don't see that it is likely to replace a good dog! That being said, I do think that it can potentially perform a lot of other neat tasks.

I can kind of see a robotic sheep herder contraption. As long as, I don't step on used batteries on the way to my car.

Last night on some news show I even saw a coffee shop where coffees were prepared for customers by robots.
