Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ??

Blimey Ken.
Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame?
You gotta be joking my friend, as there isn't a true Rock N Roller between the lot of them!

Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincen, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and the rest are the True Rock N Rollers of fame.

With respect, arguably, the lot above in your post wouldn't know true Rock N' Roll if they all fell over it.:D:cool:

For goodness sake...

GREAT BALLS OF FIRE !

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, established in 1983 and located in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, is dedicated to recording the history of some of the best-known and most influential musicians, bands, producers, and others that have in some major way influenced the music industry, particularly in the area of rock and roll.

Thank you for your very informative link there Ken.
But with respect, it seems to me that the so called RRHOF organisation have highjacked and made a mess of what true Rock N' Roll is all about.

The Cars, ‪#‎Chic‬, Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Janet Jackson, The J.B.’s, Chaka Khan, Los Lobos, Steve Miller Band, Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A Music, The Smiths, The Spinners,

Rock N' Rollers?

Gimmie a break my friend !

I have been to the R&R HOF maybe 4 or 5 times. I have relatives in that area, so I get out there quite often and I enjoy going down there. They have some great films of concerts, rooms that apply to different eras and special rock stars from the past and on certain weekends, special events are held. So, if you are an old rocker, (not a chair), it's worth the price of admission and you should plan on spending several hours while there. It is located right on the shores of Lake Erie and just up the street from the Cleveland Browns stadium., I would advise that if you chose to go not to go on a home football weekend. That area gets pretty nuts.

Burke Lakefront Airport is also situated just down the street from the HOF. I flew a small corporate jet for the first time into that airport last summer as a storm was approaching. It was a very intense landing to say the least. The winds can change direction over any of the great lakes in a heartbeat. Almost like flying into Chicago on a windy day.

I'm not a 'musical' aficionado but I personally like a few of the above. If their music isn't rock and roll, then what is it?

Respectfully gentlemen...I believe Dave Barry is known for saying one of the sure signs of geezerhood is " Today's music is just noise, they haven't had real rock and roll since (choose your era):
1950
1960
1970
I can't say 1980 because those folks wouldn't be on a senior forum yet.
So no, you don't want to be that old fart...
Deep Purple should have been among the first for the hall of fame. Steve Miller was a stoner icon...<<<deep inhale>>> "The Joker", " Fly Like an Eagle" is so good you get a contact high just listening.
But the basic chord progression to " Smoke on the Water" defined the 70's...

Flying in to Chicago?

"Almost like flying into Chicago on a windy day."

When I was a kid, a Lockheed Constellation, believe that was the triple-ruddered BIG airliner of the day, descending in to Midway, took out a bunch of homes short of the runway. As a pilot, you might remember Midway's layout; for others, it is exactly one mile square, with busy thoroughfares all around it. Thus, the maximum runway length would be 1.4 miles, fence to fence.

The immense power available with the advent of turbojets made Midway easier for small jets, such as DC-9, B-737, even B-727, earlier. Still, descending in there is a hair-raising experience, to me anyway. The rooftops of the homes directly outside the window get closer, and closer......until one can see the individual shingles! At that point, touchdown is REAL close! imp

Well Debbie, I don't really know what label I would put on those particular artists, or their music.
But one thing is for sure
NONE of them are Rock N Rollers.
If you want to listen to and see a TRUE Rock N' Roller performing, then listen to this...

Jailhouse Rock sung by Elvis Presley.

Firstly, Elvis Presley may be the grandaddy of R & R but even music evolves just like everything else, so I wouldn't expect future musicians to sound just like him. That would be tremendously boring wouldn't it?

For example, Led Zepplin is in the R&R Hall of Fame but they don't sound like Presley either. Nor does Elton John or a good number of the others like the Deep Purple song in fureverywhere's post. We won't judge you boozer cruiser just because you have a narrow preference . You're allowed!

But sorry, there is still not a true Rock N Roller there in your choice. As I previously stated...

Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincen, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Larry Williams, Johnny Preston, Bill Haley, Chris Kenner, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Tommy Tucker, The Big Bopper, Lloyd Price and the rest are the True Rock N Rollers of fame.
