Rose in the shade

I took this just now. It doesn't do the real thing justice. The rose is actually brighter and more evenly colored. But, this is the best my little camera could capture.

I've always loved the shape of the rose blooms and the way the individual petals circle and fold around each other.

It looks great to me, Don, against that contrasting background, that matches the subject so well....of course it does!

Proves that you can grow healthy and beautiful roses in the shade. Mine are out in the open but they're more healthy looking and beautiful in the early spring, like now, and in the fall.

Very beautiful Don. My dad was a nurseryman his whole life. When they got the new roses in he would bring one home after awhile he had a very long row of them alone our driveway. At the age of about 7 I could name each one just by looking at the flower.
My mom spent hours picking off the Japanese Beatles.

When we first moved here in '67, our next door neighbor's back yard was filled with rose bushes. It was something to see. He and his wife are long gone and so are the roses. We are down to two bushes now.
