Surprised this has not come up as a "hot topic" of the day, since it's all over the news media. There is a discussion about it down below in the Entertainment section, but I would have expected something here.

Any fans of Roseanne who are surprised, disappointed, etc.? I never liked the show, tried it again when it returned this season and still didn't like it, turned it off in the middle of the first episode. I don't
understand what the appeal was supposed to be. Maybe they were trying to resurrect Archie Bunker? If so, it didn't work.

That "I took Ambien" excuse is hilarious. Probably cooked up by her overpaid lawyers.

This really is more than "entertainment" news, though. Is the Bill Cosby disgrace only an entertainment issue? I don't think so.
 
I've always liked the Roseanne show, I got a lot of laughs out of it.

I just wonder how many people have said things that were racial in their life...I grew up around a lot of racism. It seemed everyone I spoke to would talk about different ethnicities in a negative manner.

I more so understand how racism effected those victims of it especially after having to take Black Studies classes in college. Some people still haven't learned any better. Roseanne is on more drugs than Ambien. I'm positive she suffers from a mental disorder and is taking other meds, too. Some of those meds make you downright goofy! I'm not saying that happened with her but I know by experience that they can make you very much not yourself.

She must feel awful for all the people who lost their jobs because of her. I could see it in her face when she was apologizing.

Maybe personally they do, but I don't believe it's something that should just be overlooked because maybe they have mental or emotional problems. Otherwise, where do we draw the line? There would be no limits. It's the same with people who hurt us. Yes, maybe there are genuine reasons they do, but is that a reason to just accept it?

If I recall correctly, Roseanne had a terrible, abusive childhood. I don't know if this is something that she remembers living through, or was remembered through some kind of therapy.

One is criminal the other is in poor taste. Apples to oranges; its only words. Bad words yes but no physical harm.
 
Never liked her. Did not watch the original show, saw no point of bringing it back. As I posted to someone on Facebook, I lost what little respect I had for her the time she disrespected the Star Spangled Banner.
 
I have always enjoyed the Roseann show (new and old) and am very sad it was cancelled. The first season was VERY good.

I think ABC did the right thing. She is on a family show and on a Disney owned network. It did not look good for them. She has been very inappropriate in her speech and the show just gave her a larger number of followers to have a platform. Most people don't want to sacrifice their ethics and values to work with or watch someone with her outlook on life.

No it should not be overlooked and I was not saying that. Those that display racism should be educated about the effect of racism on people of such races.
We live in a totally intolerant society now that does not allow people to be anything but perfect; what should we do with people with such problems; publicly harass and shame them for years? I think they should be educated like many have been and some understanding should be given to them as needing help.
 
I’ve always enjoyed Roseanne, what a silly, silly woman, I imagine that’s the end of her career.....
 
I saw yesterday ABC might shuffle the show to keep it on. The woman that is on The View and plays Roseanne's daughter will be the center of the show.
 
Yep, no matter what folks think of Roseanne, she could very well be back. We liked her, but then again, to like her, a person has to have a great sense of humor and not be offended by sarcasm. We love humor and sarcasm don't bother us at all.

Sara Gilbert is on The Talk (not The View).
The articles I saw mentioned the possibility of a show with Darlene/Sara as the main character...no mention of Roseanne.
Such a show was just an idea which I doubt will happen.

I wonder if it does happen how will they write about what happened to Roseanne. Did she die? Go to prison? Walked away from the family and disappeared? I would like to see them try to get the show back on the air. The cast can pull it off without Roseanne.

Some of the worst racists I've known are VERY educated. Roseanne knew what she was doing; she got CAUGHT with her pants down and it cost her. She got what she deserved. It's a shame that lower level innocent people who worked for the show were hurt by what Roseanne did.

I think that most racists do not care about the hurt they inflict on others. That's why they do it, to hurt and bully because they feel superior to those they attack.
 
I didn't watch the regurgitated version of that show because I dislike Roseanne. Too vulgar, I would have to throw up if I even watched.
