"Rudeness" at the grocery store

Being in a small town, it is very common to see people standing in the aisles just talking and they really don't want to move!

How small are you talking? My town (technically village) is less than 1,000 (edited typo)people. While people do often chat they usually move to same side of aisle if store is busy. And they cheerfully comply if you say you need to reach something behind them.

Our town's population is 23,000, but it encompasses a very large area that is considered part of the town. It is a very nice town!
