Russian Soldiers Surrender in Ukraine

I heard on the radio earlier this morning, that a platoon of Russian
soldiers surrendered, after they found out that they had to go and
fight, they didn't expect to do battle and fight their Ukrainian Brothers,
they said!

The reservist who was being interviewed also said that sadly 137 Ukraine
soldiers, had been killed, but also that 800 Russians had died.

The Russians took a Military Airfield, but the Ukrainian Army took it Back.

When I asked Google for a link to the story, I also found one that said
Putin is shocked by the high death rate of Russian soldiers, but I can't
find it now.

It is sad that young men have to die because an older man wants to
prove something.

Young people in Russia are demonstrating in large numbers against
their own President, the more that are arrested, seems to push many
others to join in.

An platoon of Russian solders who surrendered in Ukraine claim they had been unaware they
were sent in to kill, according to the Ukrainian military.


The entire reconnaissance unit of Russia’s 74th Motorised Rifle Brigade was said to have been
taken captive near the northern city of Chernihiv.


Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Valeriy Zalushnyi, said the invading soldiers surrendered in the
face of ‘total resistance’ from Ukrainian forces.


In a statement released on Thursday afternoon, the platoon’s commander is said to have claimed
he only learned of the invasion on Wednesday and believed they were going to return home.
 
this is all so, so sad...


An 80-year-old showed up to join the Ukrainian army, carrying with him a small case with 2 t-shirts, a pair of extra pants, a toothbrush and a few sandwiches for lunch. He said he was doing it for his grandkids.

Poland? Therein lies a real danger. Poland, and several others in the area, are members of NATO. Ukraine is not. If Poland is invaded the US will be obligated to send in troops to fight the Russians. That could give Putin an excuse to make this thing nuclear. Prior to the Ukraine invasion he conducted nuclear exercises obviously intended as a warning to the United States.
