S. Carolina's Move Right Law

I'm sure you've been on an Interstate hwy., when there's a driver glued in the passing lane, and doing 20 miles under the speed limit. My ex used to do that. She'd slowly drive for hours in the passing lane, with not one car in front of her: while other drivers were swerving all around her. How about two semis going 30 miles/hr and "passing" one another on a hill. S.C. passed a law making that illegal- the Move Right Law.
Do you think this law is needed?
SC troopers have given 300 citations, nearly 100 warnings under new 'move right' law (msn.com)

the Move Right Law.

I guess I would have assumed it already was a rule because most highways I've been on have signs indicating slower traffic should be in the right lane.
I would not really want everyone to change lanes in and out of the left lane, I prefer the crazy speeding people to just stay in the left lane rather than squeeze into the middle lane for a few seconds and then pop back out.

Yes I do. I'm a drive the speed limit kind of person, so I stay in the right lane. I've passed cars or trucks a few times but it's not my norm. And I do go the speed limit on the freeway, not under. And I still get passed like crazy.

There are always people dogging it in “the fast lane”. People know better and should stay right unless they need to pass. Sometimes I don't think people pay attention, they're oblivious, in their own little world, just moseying along. They're not aware, and they don't care. Hello? There's a line of cars a mile long behind you... move over! On the highway, I drive in the middle lane unless I need to pass. I move all the way to the right “slow” lane when I need to exit.

Will the oblivious drivers even see a “Keep right, pass left” sign, let alone comply? The law is needed, but is only good if it's enforced. 👮‍♂️

I always thought it was a given that if you were not flowing with traffic, you need to move over..That was in Calf..I never questioned if it was the law..If you failed to do so, the car behind you might ride your bumper and honk or flash their headlights... :D

watching a car drive forever in the left lane drives me nuts. I expect the law to have very little effect in changing behavior. I’ve heard people justify it by saying ‘the law says slower traffic stay right. I’m doing the speed limit, I’m not slower traffic, I get to stay in the left lane.’
it might make more sense for signs to say ‘stay in right lane except to pass’.

If it isn't a highway then I will get in the left lane and stay there if I plan to turn left within 5 or so miles, because I've had way too many experiences of not being able to change to the left lane prior to making a turn, due to obnoxious drivers who will speed up to make sure people can't move over. I remember once on a highway where traffic was merging into the highway the foster child I had with me in the car told me to speed up or those people will get in front of me. Sigh...

Yes, Slower vehicles should always stay to the right.
I thought we were always to stay in the right lane unless we're passing.
