I work part time mornings at the local supermarket until 10:00 a.m. I was home maybe only about 20 minutes when the phone rang and I could see on the TV that it was my sister calling.
She asked me if I was doing OK. Unusual question from her to me. I knew something was up. She then told me that her daughter, my niece, died last evening. She was only 53. I was stunned, as is the rest of the family. She had lost her left leg just a few years ago due to an untreated infection.
No details today, so I guess the Coroner must have requested an autopsy. It’s going to be a sad holiday around my home, but we’ll get through it.
I don’t know why I’m even talking about this. Maybe I just need to air it out.
