Acupuncture...is recognized by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and
The World Health Organization (WHO) to be effective treatment of a wide variety
of medical.problems.

Fibromyalgia is the second-most common rheumatic disorder in the U.S.behind arthritis.
Anxiety and carpal tunnel syndrome are only a few of some other health concerns that acupuncture has been effective in treating.

Have you ever had/tried acupuncture?
And, care to share...the problem...and results?🤗

I saw a couple of documentaries recently that reviewed some very good scientific studies of acupuncture, including a lot of controls for the placebo effect.

In the end they concluded that there is nothing to it, except for the placebo effect. Which can do a lot for things like pain management.

The better one was a part of the Great Lecture series (https://www.thegreatcourses.com/cou...ruths-what-we-think-we-know-may-be-hurting-us), I get it through an Amazon subscription for less. This is not the best one, but its available for free on Youtube, :
Problem is once you watch this the placebo effect is a lot less likely to help you.

Fibromyalgia is a neurological disease and acupuncture does not help so don't waste money on it.

I was diagnosed with it over 30 years ago and believe me have been through many different kinds of 'alternative remedies' and spent many dollars.
I have in fact suffered with it since my childhood days off and on though then it was growing pains, later lumbago, later fibrositis, later rheumatism and so on.
The cause has yet to be found though it is thought to be triggered by some stressful incident occurring in one's life....had lots of those , even as a child.

I tried the exercises for carpel tunnel but the only thing that worked for me was the surgery.

I went to acupuncture years ago for headaches. I think it helped. I used to get a lot of headaches. Maybe I just aged out of them. The woman I went to, who I liked very much, isn't in the area anymore. She's the only one I went to.

Many years ago my mother in law went to an acupuncturist regularly for awhile for her arthritis and other pains, she said it helped her. I was starting to quit smoking at the time and she was pushing me to try it to help me quit, she even paid for it. Well, they put a pin in my ear lobe that was supposed to stop the cravings, it did not work. I ended up quitting cold turkey as I originally planned, but I had to be ready to make the commitment, smartest thing I've ever done.

I have an older friend who was suffering with that, among many other ailments. She couldn't afford to buy supplements, but I had done some research on Magnesium Malate and fibro. I bought her a large bottle and she said they really helped her. Her doctor said it was okay for her to try.

After some time I asked if she wanted another bottle, I'd pick one up for her, but by that time she was in and out of the doctor's offices and hospitals with other health problems and was put on even more prescription meds. She was thankful, but had so many other pills to take she didn't want to do the supplement anymore.

I tried acupuncture for chronic stiff neck and neck pain and went through several treatments and really didn't get much relief from it unfortunately. The only thing that gives me relief is muscle relaxers that I take when it is really bad and I use moist heat on my heat otherwise to loosen up the tension in my neck. @SeaBreeze , I agree with you 100% with smoking. You have to be completely committed to wanting to quit and then just do it. I also quit cold turkey as I was finally ready many many years ago. Best thing I also did.

Thanks for reply but as I said been through just about everything magnesium included.

The word Fibromyalgia is ,broken down, fibre, muscle, pain.
The muscles don't pick up the message from the brain to do whatever the action is so fibres and connective tissue ( which is where most of the pain is) take over and which is why the pain is 'different'.

The muscles therefore weaken. It also means that sometimes you will not grasp or get a hold of whatever you were trying to get. I have broken many dishes in my time simply because my muscles did not get the message. This is as explained to me by a great Doctor I had for a few years who was deeply interested in FMS and had myself and some others under supervision.

I have an exercise video produced by local hospital many years ago expressly for FMS patients. It helped a lot and kept the muscles alive.
Over the years I learned to live with it but must say now that I am old it does not bother me as much simply because I don't do so much:p

My physiotherapist also did acupuncture. My problem was my neck & shoulder so she added in the needles. Not sure if they helped or not. The physio definitely did.

have you ever tried cranio-sacral therapy?

It is like chiropractic, but much gentler and also much more oriented to the head (and neck).

Might also try a more advanced kind of pillow, specially designed for neck issues.

I had herniated discs in my neck in the early 90s. Was so bad that the chiropractor said a slight blow to the back of the head could send me into a coma or just death. The natural "C" curve in my neck not only flattened out completely, it started to curve in the opposite direction.

I resolved it with a tremendous amount of bed rest, the chiropractic and relaxation exercises for the neck and shoulders. Took a lot of work! I also did the cranio-sacral therapy. But I could not get that covered by insurance, so I concentrated on the chiropractic.

I do get acupuncture. I was in a few car accidents. I have herniated discs in my lower back and problems in my neck. Also picked up even more problems over the years.

I get the acupuncture also with electrical stim.

That is the only thing that ends my lower back pain.

What I would say is that acupuncture will kind of "right" you. But then, our own movements, lifting, etc...can then knock the acupuncture work out of alignment.

So, if you combine the acupuncture work, with a lot of proper, daily stretching...get yourself a top quality mattress for your injuries and do a wide range of things to support your injuries...you will maximize the potential of the acupuncture work.

Many of us either sleep in horrible positions or have poor mattresses. So, that is, 8 hours, every single night...working to MIS-ALIGN us. There is no way that acupuncture can compete with all that negative influence.

So, if we start to end those negative influences in our daily lives, the acupuncture works better and holds longer.

Yes I have and that has given me relief for short periods of time. Chiropractic work is not covered by my insurance so that is why I do not go to them. Cranio-Sacral Therapy however when my Primary Physician refers me to Physical Therapy that is what I end up getting and it does help.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but four weeks of bronchitis has done wonders for my back pain.

I was going to physical therapy to try to "strengthen my core" but apparently 24-hour-a-day heavy coughing does the trick, too. I must have the strongest core in town.

You did check to make sure the "bronchitis" is not COVID, right?

Take care...
