Sailor in iconic V-J Day Times Square kiss photo dies at 95

The nurse was a dental assistant and stepped outside to see what all the commotion was about. She died a couple years ago. I just pulled one sentence out of an article I just skimmed. I had heard before that she wasn't happy about a stranger kissing her. I'll put a link to the article on here. I'm sure most people would agree with what the sailor did but I believe it should have been her choice. Back then women put up with more than they do now days.

Oh for Pete's sake! This wasn't exactly a "typical day". For many Americans, particularly those who had served or had family in the Pacific, this was a very emotional time. I doubt that Friedman's emotional sensibilities were seriously damaged ... especially since the photo gave her a historical legacy that she would never in a million years have achieved on her own.

Calm down there, Sparky. No one stated that Friedman was psychologically injured by the enthusiastic kiss. Linda simply pointed out that it was a different time, and indeed women DID "put up with a lot more" back then.
