Here is a recipe for the BEST blue cheese dressing!

1/4 cupsour cream
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tspsalt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp. Worchesterhire Sauce
1 1/2 cup mayonnaise
4 oz Danish blue cheese

and

my special dressing:

olive oil
Regina wine vinegar
1 1/2 tsp mustard
oregano
black pepper
splash of Accent
salt
Worchestershire sauce
minced garlic
grated Parmesan cheese
Shake it ll upin a cruet. This can be used on salads or Sub sandwiches.

Those are mine. What are yours?

I usually buy bottled dressing with a coupon.

When I have an empty mustard, mayonnaise, or catsup bottle I add vinegar and give it a shake. Sometimes I add oil and crushed garlic along with S&P, dried herbs, etc... It’s always good and in my mind it’s free.

I also like a combination of bottled chunky salsa, sour cream and mayonnaise.

Sounds good Gaer, but I'm just too lazy to make homemade dressing.

What I'm using this afternoon, is Ken's Steak House Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing.
I'm hooked on that stuff. It's the only brand that I buy.

When in the US, I pick up a supply of Ken’s. My DD wanted me to bring her back several bottles of 1000 Island. No way, it would cost me a fortune to mail across the country. She ordered a supply and paid that fortune herself.

My favourite is Blue Cheese made for Loblaw’s President’s Choice.

Homemade doesn’t happen anymore.

OMG, Gaer, these sound mouthwatering delicious!!!

Impeccable timing for these with warmer weather upon us!

Thank you for sharing!

This thread reminded me of the old Campbell's tomato soup salad dressing from the 60s.

1 can (10.75 oz.) condensed tomato soup
1 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. dry mustard powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. celery seeds
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Combine ingredients in the blender and refrigerate overnight.

Catalina from Aldis, yum! Occasionally blue cheese and my favorite pizza place has a Parmesan peppercorn that’s excellent.
Does anyone remember the Good Seasons Italian that came in a little envelope and it came with a little cruet and you reconstituted it with vinegar and oil and I think a little water?
It was all my sister in law used and it was always delicious!

I like most of Ken's salad dressings but my favorite is Russian. The hubby loves Vidalia onion dressing. Neither one of us care for the lite variety.
Ken's is our favorite also. Their salad dressing originated at Ken's Steak House in Framingham, MA, which was once the famous "go to" place for steak in the area. Although Ken's is not all far from us, I haven't been there in almost 45 years but hear it's still very good.

I'm not a big fan of lite dressings but this Northern Italian with Basil & Romano from Ken's is very good.

I buy bottled also. Love bleu cheese. Newman's own Ranch is a fave. Lot's of organic dressings from the health food store like honey mustard or green goddess. I was once going to make a homemade Greek salad dressing which calls for few ingredients and I thought that would be easy as well as healthy.

The recipe called for 1 cup of sugar! Not only did I not make it, I stopped eating Greek salad period.

i'm a fan of aldi's poppy seed dressing. i think i could probably scare up a packet or 2 of Good Seasons Italian. i like to make it with lemon juice (instead of vinegar) and good olive oil.

Those sound good to me. And, I normally have all the ingredients, except for probably the sour cream and the blue cheese.
I like to use red wine vinegar in a lot of my dressings w/ oil for most of my green salads or bean salads. Or lemon and olive oil.

I also buy a lot of bottled dressings for my diff salads I make, Catalina for my taco salad, and Zesty Italian for others. I have an Asian sesame type that I used when I made a sheet pan of beef and broccoli.

Does anyone eat spinach salads anymore? With the shredded egg and bacon. They were so popular back in the 90s...the 1990s.
The poppyseed dressing is what we used for them sometimes...

This "Ken's" Yes, I've used that but it always seems there is something missing! Am I wrong?
I have some in my fridge. I think I'll try to "doctor it up" a bit with more herbs and spices and some mustard!
