San Francisco Turns into 'American Disgrace'

Anybody read about former San Francisco fire commissioner Don Carmignani? His homeless "attacker" was found not guilty of assault and battery. Turns out Don Carmignani is now reportedly under investigation by SFPD for preying on the homeless in a series of bear spray attacks.

The situation in SF looks too suspiciously like what Portland, OR has been going through. Maybe stepping back and having a broader take on the situation will enlighten many who are inclined to judge the situation quickly.

I wasn't posting specifically about the San Francisco situation; my note was merely related to the folly of trusting Fox as a reliable news source. The information I posted about Fox is true and factually verifiable—you know, the sort of information that would have saved Fox $787,500,000.
Maybe if you go back & read my 1st. post you will get it that the article title was what my post was really about.

Here is a hint.

Just to be clear, I'm aware that Fox news shouldn't be the only source. Actually having complete confidence in MSNBC CNN ABC CBS isn't the way to go. If you really want a different perspective on world news then ALJAZEERA seems pretty reliable.

Crime rates, generally, are not increasing. That is generally, not in specific hotspots. What we do to people when caught has changed. The US spends $80bn a year keeping people incarcerated, and 18% of federal prisoners are housed in for profit (privately held) facilities. When you consider the US puts more people in jail than Russia, Rwanda, Brazil, and 3X more then the UK does, it puts things in perspective.
Of course crime rates are increasing. As a former resident of San Francisco and an occasional visitor I can say the reasons are multiple. An attitude on the part of some of our citizens, and the District Attorneys that they elect, that crime is best dealt with by counseling, rather than punishment only makes matters worse. This is compounded by a hostility toward police in general.

Are you aware of a law passed in California that defined shoplifting of merchandise valued at less than $950 to be a misdemeanor, rather than a felony? This in effect turned California shoplifting into a recreational event. Fortunately rampant crime has forced our legislators to take a look at that law.

Here are some statistics for you …

If you think that is bad just try leaving a package in sight in a car parked in a tourist area of the city. Some streets are littered with broken glass.

Dated revived thread.

Another important for locals San Francisco supermarket located in an ethnic district to close due to rampant theft the store tried to reduce but ultimately could not. Of course for months residents of the area have been voicing concern of losing such a highly used food market.
However such has not affected their fellow residents that continue to openly steal that shows a general attitude. As someone that occasionally visits The City 55 miles north then uses its public transportation, I am dismayed every time I ride a bus and see so many walk right by the fare machines, ignoring drivers.

Basic issue IMO is lack of any level of painful punishment. The experiment of ignoring low level crimes in our large cities has run its course and citizens will force change whether rights advocates whine or not.

Safeway blames shoplifting for closure. Guards say the store loses $7,000 a day to theft

San Francisco Safeway loses $7,000 a day to theft, guards say

...Commonly stolen items include cooking oil, meat, and liquor. The guard said thieves have staffers open locked liquor shelves, then take a bottle and run. They’ll also take an empty Safeway shopping bag, fill it with merchandise, and try to walk out the front entrance, pretending they already paid...

The gangs in the cities were bad enough before the ones came from south of the border the last few years.
People came here to get away from all of the crime and danger in their home countries just to be abused by gangs here in America.
Too many misguided people making laws that allow criminals to do whatever they want and not have to worry about being prosecuted and then you have all of these anti-gun groups instilling their policies on state legislatures to where decent citizens don’t have much of a chance to defend themselves anymore.
You can’t talk about the problems in our country without mentioning those responsible for allowing these problems.
If that’s talking politics then so be it.
