Sanctuary: How do you know?

History shows that many people have left their homes and fled to another place only to find the place they fled to worse than the place they left. How do you know? If you go alone how do you stay safe?
 

You just have to do some research first, many people left their homes for one reason or another and the places they went to were better. You don't really know until you get their, but you can get a really good idea before you move.
 
But, the thing is, we have not always had the internet to check on a country, city or crimes. I mean, how did the Pilgrims know they would find a safe environment in this new world?
Sometimes I think it just goes on faith that they new place will be better.
