Would it be paid by the company or it's insurance carrier?

Most of what is being discussed in this thread about the differences in guns is pretty much gibberish to me. Never owned a gun so don't care to learn the details. I just hope that with the excessive gun violence in this country, the victims and or families would be successful in the suing all entities responsible.
