This is NOTHING to do with sex.

Do you think satisfaction is a good thing or a bad thing in terms of human progress? Are you satisfied? With yourself? Your place in the world? The world itself?

Does disatifaction lead to progress? Would we all be living like nomads still, in tents, hunting animals and moving from place to place with their migration were it not for some disatisfied person who thought it would be better to live in one place and grow plants instead of just to travel and gather them? What about the wheel? Would it have been invented had everyone been satisfied with walking and lugging heavy loads from place to place. Would medicine exist if someone had not become disatified with the pain and limitations of illness? Did disatisfaction free slaves of all races and creeds? And isn't the world a better place because of that?

Discuss?

Well, I think you're right. We are always looking for ways to be more comfortable, happier, etc. On the other hand, if we were truly satisfied, we might be just as happy digging in the dirt. I look at a gorilla on a nature show, and that big old guy looks awfully content, laying on his back chewing on leaves. For myself, I am very happy with who I am. At 82, I better be.
Ain't nothing going to change at this point. Chic, you never told me what that is that you're sitting on in your profile pic.

I think that dissatisfaction, like necessity, is the mother of invention. Without it we would still be groveling around in the mud.

Well, Mick Jagger sings about not getting any but he must have got a lot out his career...
