Saturday nights? When was the last time you went out ?

It's Saturday night here, and I was just thinking I can't remember the last time I went out on a Saturday night or even a friday night for that matter.

Friday and Saturdays nights used to be a big deal. Looking forward to going somewhere special dressing up..going out for a meal, a dance, a show...but not any more, not because I'm too old, but it just seems that if I go out in the evenings it could be just as well any night of the week and probably just for dinner. I'd love to go and dance somewhere again...but I live in the countryside and it's such a faff to get the train into London where the night life is, and it's all so youth orientated , and there is little to do here in this little country town other than pubs and restaurants in the evenings.

So, do you still go out on Saturday nights ? :)
 

I'm retired. Everyday is Saturday for me. I went out last night and plan to go visit some friends tonight. But some days I might go out in the early part of the week. Saturday night is nothing extra special at this point for me.
 
Oh, my, hollydolly! It's been dogs' years. Even before DH died, I don't think we went out much on Friday or Saturday evenings. As you said, it's all so youth oriented that even if I were inclined to go out, I'd feel crushed in the crowds of kids. In the olden days, when we were all much younger(!), there were nice dinner restaurants and piano bars. Those were places where kids wouldn't have been caught dead. As far as I know, those places have pretty much gone the way of gas lights.

Yes it was a big deal going out Friday and/or Saturday nights when I was young. I don't even think about it anymore...alot of my friends moved away and money is a bit tight. So, I content myself w/ a lunch out now and then with a friend on my Wed. or Sun. off work.

I used to love dancing, but there's no one to dance with anymore.

I thought about getting up a card party w/ some neighbors maybe one or two times a month, serve snacks and rotate among our homes. Does that sound like something you'd like too?
 
I went out last night; always go out on a Friday; and I was out earlier tonight!
next week I am out Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night.....can't be bad!

Not usually that good though....
 
You mean to a club? OMG.... not for 30 years at least. But we go out to dinner... usually on a Saturday evening. Last time was our anniversary in July.. we are about due.. We take in a movie.. usually on a Sunday matinee and take advantage of the Senior price.

i have a good group of close friends; 2 of us are widows, and one is divorced; so we try and go out once a week.
then a girlie night out to Grease next Saturday, at the local theatre.
wednesday is a group of ex-work colleagues; who looked after me when my husband died....we go out every 2or 3 months.

It has all come at once!

Rose I miss the dancing the most too, but same as you there's no-one around to dance with any more. As for my neighbours they wouldn't be interested in what you're suggesting , they are very insular, and wrapped up in their own lives anyway..I barely see any of them tbh.

Vivcen, you're lucky it sounds like you have a really good social life!:)
 
The people I go out with are neighbours, Holly; goes to show how different places can be...
 
We`re going out tonight-to a football game :) That is our life now until November,Friday and Saturday night football. We`ll go out to dinner as well,then most nights we`ll go "party" at the kid`s house until midnight or so. Oh,just remembered. Have football tomorrow as well but not really to watch the game. Our granddaughter from another county is coming to cheer for their game so we`ll go see her,then dd and SIL want to take us out to dinner to celebrate hubby`s birthday since they didn`t get up here for it last week. Yay-no cooking three nights in a row!
 
I was suppose to go out to a party tonight, but, my body is still recouping from the previous weekend. I had dinner out this past Friday, I'm staying in the rest of the weekend with a good book.
 
We've always pretty much been homebodies, not ones to want to go out partying on weekends, even when we were working. Like Falcon, we'd rather go to a restaurant or somewhere on a weeknight if we do go out, and avoid the crowds.
 
Friday and Saturday night were "date nights" when I was a teen. After marriage... not. At least not very often... When we were younger we didn't have the money.. and as older folks... we don't have the interest or the energy.
 
A few times a month, on a Friday or Saturday night we will go out for dinner and then head over to a place called Latitude 30 and see our favorite Disco/Classic Rock band play. It generally a bunch of young folks, who were either young kids or not born yet, when disco was going in the mid-later 70's. There are few older couples (our age) there, but very few! We have a ball! Depending on who's playing (NFL), we will go to a local Sports Bar and have a pitcher of Bud Light, Wings, etc.. Love being around the NFL crowd!

There have been times that we've taken in a movie on a Friday night. A big container of buttered popcorn and a large Coke......yes!
Next Spring/Summer, when "boating season" starts up again, we will be back out on the water. That is always fun. Then there is always the Range where we both have fun shooting at targets. And, now that we will be going into Oct., it will be time to get our Halloween costumes ready. Yes, Darth Vader and Princess Leia "come to life"......LOL

While my wife is on vacation, we will be going out on a Casino Cruise Ship for part of a day. Been on it before and had a great time. "Broke even" with gambling, so we didn't lose money. Not as good as winning a few hundred or so, but did come home w/what we took for gambling. We will also be going to our local zoo, out to breakfast and whatever kind of "party" stuff we can find to do.........if the weather cooperates.

When we were both single, we done our share of "partying" on the weekends! Most likely, during the summer months weekends (day/night), before meeting my wife, I'd either be at a rodeo or a favorite nightclub having a brew and doing a 2-step. Done some Square Dancing back then also. Wife would be at a local nightclub, or restaurant w/a bar/dance floor and be doing some Line Dancing. She was also into Square Dancing as well. After we married, our lives became even more active.......rodeo's, dancing, Las Vegas trips, County Fairs and on and on. We did keep pretty busy.

Sorry for the long reply, but we are active. Not as active as we use to be, after we first met and the following 7 years, but still "active"!
