Scam Text Message I Got

A few days ago I got a text that said it was from my state BMV. It said I owe money to them because of a traffic offense. They had a link to pay them.

I know it's a scam because I don't have any traffic offenses. They also did not have my name on the message.

They will try any way to rip people off. I just deleted the message. I'm a little scared still because it said if they don't get my money they will take my license away and some other garbage I forgot.

You should see some of the emails I get to "enhance" body parts that I don't have. Whether it's hilarious or over-the-top annoying depends on the mood I'm in at the time.

Ignore all the threats because like everything else in this scam, they are 100% lies.

And if there are any doubts, contact the supposed source independently.

It cracks me up when I got those because I haven't owned nor driven a car in 20 years, except to move my husband's car from the street to the lot a couple of times when he was sick. He's been gone for nearly 7 years. I got a couple of those scam texts earlier this year. Guess they realized this fish ain't bitin', so they stopped.

I got the same kind of text Ruthanne received. Early last week.

Hopefully someday they can track those type of messages and punish accordingly.

Even the DMV cautions people not to open suspicious emails, so it seems to me that if they officially called you to court, you would have a pretty good case for ignoring the email.
