Scams are getting more advanced

Regardless of who anyone says they are ..... the caller id can be spoofed.
My bank did call me i let go to voicemail and looked up specific branch on internet then called direct it WAS them but i simply do not give anyone a chance.
It is amazing to me but people at work FAIL the security sending weird emails to see if we are paying attention and not clicking on it ..... they did a couple this week i simply marked as phishing and my co-workers did not read clearly clicked and have to take a remedial class next week ........ STAY alert will protect you most of the time anyway.
When you say, "clicking on it," do you mean reading the email rather than discarding it based on the subject alone? Or do they actually (gasp) click on a link within the email, a no-no, for sure.

I often delete based on subject lines alone, but sometimes read the first few sentences in an email. When I realize it's a scam or an "opportunity" that holds no interest for me, I delete them.

A few have clicked a link or attachment the security group uses this ploy to check and see if staff is not looking at all clues like url/ misspelled things etc.

I can help you with scams. For $49.99 I will send my anti-scam kit. Join today and I will include a copy of the book “How to get rich quick” by Robin Banks. But, wait there’s more! I will also include a bottle of my pattened Varmint Oil, a $60 value, that you can use to coat your phone. When a scammer contacts you will smell like a dead varmint and the scammer will want to hang up real quick!

I don't have anyone left to call me. So, if I get a call its either a business call or a scam.
I have an answering machine so can listen to messages and call back if needed.
Also, its nice to have a message to refer back to.

I just assume all calls and emails are scams. Both can be spoofed so even if they look right they may not be.
Also, now they record and reuse your voice so I'm leery about talking to anybody on the phone that I don't know.
I've probably reported some legitimate ones as phishing. :D

The husband would click on most anything. Including opt outs. Thankfully we didnt use the same computer.
I need to give a shout out to Eset for patiently cleaning up his computer multiple times.

Glad your employer's security group is on the ball. Surprising about the staff though.
Not really some staff is a bit over confident and has the belief they can see it coming... that is why some fall for it.
One person told me he did not have the time to any question intention every single time ... Funny, he has time to take remedial safety training.

One telltale sign that its a scam: from the very first contact, there are demands for a swift response with the threat of dire consequences if payment isn't made immediately. Legitimate companies, banks, utilities, legal firms, and other entities don't operate that way.

Also your initial gut reaction is something like, "FastTrak tolls? When did I rack up unpaid FastTrak tolls???"
Or "Wait. What? Grandson Johnny desperately needs money in England/Michigan/wherever? When I talked to his parents last week, why didn't they mention he he was going on a trip?"

This is number one first sign.

There are so many folks that call in to Kim Komando and the stories they respond to are so obvious. They so want to believe.

Statistics show that younger folks are more easily scammed than seniors. Fortunately they likely don’t have the larger funds to be lost.

This is the second time I've gotten this one via text. I guess they figure if they send this to enough people, they'll hook some who drive on toll roads. Jokes on them...I do not drive. I hit the scam/block feature.

Here is the entire EZ Pass payment scam text. I got another one today and reported it as spam again. I can't tell if it's from the same number but the link to click is not the same as the one I posted above.
