I hear you birdy, but I read that if the head of the Federal Reserve, who is terrible, leaves, then there would be a market correction like none of us have experienced in our lifetime. That's got to happen because so many are unable to afford a home...that's so wrong.

If you want a new house that's affordable, you can buy land and have a nice pre-fabricated house, manufactured, modular home delivered and erected. I've seen some and they look really awesome. Google images.

Both modular and manufactured houses are prefabricated homes, meaning they're either partially or fully constructed in an off-site factory.
 
Be careful buying land. Have someone help you if your not in-the-know. It's's got to be Potable Land if it's not on City water meaning you can drill a well for water. Also, stay away from flood zones, fire zones, noise, steep hills (snow,ice,climbing), on blind curves, etc
