Scheduled Zoom meeting invitation Friday

I like your idea (not that I'm volunteering), but I'm not sure the problem we're having at present is about tech so much as person-to-person misunderstandings. Which, on thinking about it, I suppose could be avoided, at least to some extent, with better understanding of tech.
 

My question is: does it make a better difference to do zoom on I-phones,
or laptop computers?

I one day down the road would enjoy popping in to this zoom visit I think.
Right now though my laptop is acting up. Making a sound that sounds like
water, sort of like running a faucet? I'll need to have it checked out, as I am
technically not savy, or any related things.

Ok so that was my question above ^^^

So I've done a quick Google and what I've gleaned is that, while it is easier to use Zoom on a PC it can be done on an IPhone and there is apparently an app for it, which they do advise downloading if you're using an IPhone.

I'm assuming the app thing also applies to other androids.

Zoom is usually best done via a stable platform, i.e., where the video camera looking at you is in a fixed position. Like cameras in a TV studio are. Otherwise it can be distracting to typical viewers like me. This is why I don't ZOOM with my phone, cuz I don't want to look like some dude on a police body cam and hear stuff like "Show me your hands! Show me your F*&^%$ hands!!" Just sayin.
 
I briefly joined the one on March 23rd <-- just to see if it worked and then quickly left.
The issue for me (besides probably not fitting in anyway) is that I don't have a cam or a microphone.
I looked around afterward and found that Logitech has some in the $65 range, presumably that include the audio.
Any suggestions for those would be much appreciated. I'm always using a desktop computer and don't use a cell phone.

Then I would probably practice with someone before (maybe) joining the group.
Meanwhile I need to get the taxes done, get the phone line upgraded, change the treadmill belt & flip the deck.

our device of choice, then how does it look to each person, do we
see a screen with each of us who are zooming, so like a big pic with
each members name or profile pic etc?

I have Facetimed before, but just one on one etc.

When I have been on you could see everyone who had a camera in a small picture and the person speaking in a large one.

I'm not sure about IPhone and Android versions, but when on PC you have a choice of how others are displayed to you. There is what @Alligatorob is explaining and I think that's "speaker" view, or something similarly named and there's "gallery" view, which I prefer as it shows everyone at once, in their own box. So, in "gallery" view you see smaller pictures of everyone but all at once and in "speaker" (I think) view, you see much larger pictures, but one at a time.

The thing is nobody fits in, which is why everybody fits in. ;)

You remember that old TV show Hollywood Squares? Zoom looks kinda like that.
 
Ok, I have a better idea now, Hollywood Squares, gosh I remember that
clear, so zoom sort of looks like that, a good comparison sch404 :)

LOL Medusa, no one fits it and is why we all will fit in. I like that! ;)

when i tried on my laptop, that was useless
i will try my ipad next time ....will it work on that ?

i had the same problem john , i want to practice one to one first , if possible ..
