SD Memory Cards

Whether they be normal or micro cards each type are exactly
the same configuration no matter the size, i.e. 4 gig 32 gig, etc.

The Micro connections are the same for each size, the normal
card connections are the same for each size too.

What I can't get an answer to is, if a phone allows a micro SD card
up 16 gig and the connctions are the same on a 64 gig one and
they are only storage devices that have nothing to do with the
device that it is plugged into, why is there a "Top Limit" on how
much you can store there!

The pins are the same because data transfer is serial. My guess is that there is a difference in formatting that the phone can't handle.

It probably depends on the hardware capabilities, and the ability of the operating system to recognise and access anything above the expected storage ''ceiling''

I think you're right, Hollydolly. It could be the phone's processor can't handle addresses that high.

Thank you for the replies, you are both probably correct.

I bought one a few weeks ago and asked the salesman the
same question, his reply was nowhere near as intelligent as
yours, he should have had a reply of sorts ready, but didn't.

I still would like the truth though.
