I find it hard to think kindly of any outfit prone to stealing peoples' pets off their porch and killing them, saying its because the home wasn't good. Those of us who have worked in actual animal rescue for many years know what a crock of insane idiots PETA harbors. This includes their leaders.
Could you please provide a link that is credible for that accusation? I have NEVER heard that one. With a wee bit of looking, I even came across a link to a statement by PETA about the very thing you accuse them of:

As for the leadership of PETA, Ms. Newkirk is not insane, she is outspoken and opinionated and is 100% defensive of animals who suffer at the hands of humans. They've done so much good and brought to light so many egregious abuses of animals in so many industries and if all of us had 1/10th the concern that they do, this world would be a safer place for animals.
Did you know that in their home city which I think is in Virginia, they have free spay/neuter clinics to the underprivileged who have pets. That sort of flies in the face of your remark doesn't it? According to the accusation, they'd be stealing those pets and killing them because 'if they can't afford to get Fido fixed, they obviously can't provide a good home'. Wouldn't that be in line with what you said? They also provide new dog houses to 'backyard dogs' every year and generally give away about 300 per year at a cost of $265.00 each. Does that jive with your statement about stealing and killing them?
They've provided so many undercover videos that have gotten abusive farmers, labs, circuses and fur farmers and slaughterhouses shut down or charged and convicted, that the mind boggles. The truth of how we treat food animals and every other 'used' animal has become visible to millions as a result of the heartbreaking work that their undercover people do! Knowing how I feel as I just drive past a farm with their calf igloos visible, I can only imagine the heart wrenching that those people feel as they watch tiny piglets being thumped against a cement floor or the numerous other abuses that go on in those kinds of places. Personally, I find it kind of offensive when people who obviously haven't researched what PETA really does, refer to these hard working and ultra compassionate folks as crack pots and idiots.
